B. Download the FIRST firmware update: WB.16.01.0011


C. Download the SECOND firmware update: WB.16.04.0008

D. VERIFY THAT THE NEEDED FILES ARE WB.16.01.0011 & WB.16.04.0008

E. CHECK THE CURRENT SWITCH FIRMWARE VERSION

In this example were are upgrading from WB.15.17.0009

F. CREATE BACKUPS OF THE CONFIG FILE


Switch(config)# copy config config1 config config2
Wherein: you are copying the config file from Flash1 and pasting to Flash2

G. CREATE BACKUPS OF THE STARTUP-CONFIG FILE


TO AN TFTP SERVER
Switch(config)# copy startup-config tftp 10.1.1.60
(TFTP IP ADDRESS)
Switch1_config_OLD.cfg
(FILENAME)

TO A USB
Switch(config)# copy startup-config usb
Switch1_config_OLD.cfg
(FILENAME)
H. SET THE FLASH2 IMAGE TO BOOT WITH CONFIG2
Switch(config)# startup-default secondary config
config2

I. DOWNLOAD THE NEW FIRMWARE UPDATE FILE TO THE SWITCH


VIA TFTP

In this example: 10.1.1.9 is the TFTP IP Address


K_15_18_0007.swi is the firmware update file

So use the WB.16.01.0011 First

So use the WB.16.01.0011 First


J. FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCESS
The command boot system flash secondary will begin the
process of update. It will take about 1-3 minutes of
downtime due to switch reboot

K. VERIFY UPDATED FIRMWARE VERSION


switch# show version

IT SHOULD BE WB.16.01.0011

L. REPEAT STEPS I K, BUT THIS TIME THE FILE INVOLVED WILL BE


WB.16.04.0008
YOU MAY ALSO CREATE BACKUPS OF THE STARTUP-CONFIG FILE
M. VERIFY UPDATED FIRMWARE VERSION
switch# show version

IT SHOULD BE WB.16.04.0008

N. RESTORE THE START-UP CONFIG TO THE SWITCH,


AND PERFORM A RELOAD COMMAND. It will take about 1-3
minutes of downtime due to switch reboot.
