Dear Mr. Smith:

I have received your October 2, 2017 letter wherein you requested that the SCMPD vacate the Whitefield
Precinct by October 20, 2017. Although the County has not taken any meaningful steps to resolve
amounts owed by the County for law enforcement services we have provided within the unincorporated
areas, and in the interest of maintaining a harmonious relationship with Chatham County, we agree to
vacate the facility by October 31, 2017. The facility will officially revert back to the County effective
November 1, 2017. Consequently, no SCMPD services will be available from this location as of

November 1 .

Although we are deeply disappointed by the Countys reluctance to attempt to resolve our outstanding
issues, we nevertheless continue to look forward to assisting your efforts to provide law enforcement
services in unincorporated Chatham County.
