DAILY LEARNING PLAN IN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND

MAINTENANCE
1ST SEMESTER SY: 2017-2018

Date: July 17, 2017

I. CONTENT: Concept Note# 5

Measuring Tools and Equipment in electrical
o Multi Tester - A multimeter or a
multitester, also known as a VOM (volt-
ohm-milliammeter), is an electronic
measuring instrument that combines several
measurement functions in one unit

o Clamp Meter - a current clamp or current

probe is an electrical device with jaws which
open to allow clamping around an electrical
conductor. This allows measurement of the
current in a conductor without the need to
make physical contact with it, or to disconnect
it for insertion through the probe.
o Ammeter - An ammeter (from Ampere
Meter) is a measuring instrument used to
measure the current in a circuit. Electric
currents are
measured in
amperes (A), hence
the name.
Instruments used to
measure smaller
currents, in the
milliampere or
microampere range,
are designated as
milliammeters or
microammeters.
o Voltmeter - A voltmeter is an instrument used for measuring electrical
potential difference between two points in an electric circuit. Analog
voltmeters move a pointer across a scale in proportion to the voltage of
the circuit; digital voltmeters give a numerical display of voltage by use
of an analog to digital converter.

II. CONTENT STANDARD: The learners should be able to recognize the measuring
tools and equipment in Electrical

III. PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learners should be able to demonstrate the

use of measuring tools and equipment in electrical.

IV. LEARNING COMPETENCIES: At the end of the lesson, I can:

A. Use the specific tools in electrical
B. Explain the function of each measuring tools in electrical
V. ASSESSMENT: ACTIVITY #5
o Draw at least 5 Measuring Tools and Equipment in Electrical

The Multitester
o The Parts of Multi Tester
The Dial or the Infinity knob- this is the zero collector
whenever you calibrate, the beginning as 0 voltages both the AC
and DC measurement. Use your flat screw driver to set this knob
to calibrate the 0 voltages of your tester.
Zero Adjustment or the Zero Ohms collector knob- this use
to calibrate the tester whenever you wanted to measure the
resistance. To assure that the tester calibrated to zero Ohms, just
follow this procedure.
The pointer or needle- use to point or read the measurement
using the meter scale base of the range and settings you prepared
during the test of a device or line of a voltage.
Range selector knob- this part of the tester located center down
of the body of the VOM is used to select the range and settings
of the VOM the (AC and DC, Resistance, and the Amperage).
Be sure to set this if ever you wanted to measure the voltage.
Test probes- there are two test probes of the VOM, the black is
the negative (-) and the red is the positive (-). If ever you wanted
to measure a voltage, example DC just knows the polarity or the
positive and negative.

II. CONTENT STANDARD: The learners should be able to identify the parts of
multitester
III. PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learners should be able to classify the
function of Multitester
IV. LEARNING COMPETENCIES: At the end of the lesson, I can:
A. Demonstrate the use of multitester
B. Explain the Function of multitester

V. ASSESSMENT: ACTIVITY #6
o Identify the Parts of Multi tester and their function

1ST SEMESTER SY: 2017-2018

Date: July 21, 2017

I. CONTENT: CONCEPT NOTE #8:

Electrical Machines
o In electrical engineering, electric machine is a general term for electric
motors and electric generators and other electromagnetic machines. They
are electromechanical energy converters: an electric motor converts
electricity to mechanical power while an electric generator converts
mechanical power to electricity.
Generator
o An electric generator is a device that converts mechanical energy to
electrical energy. A generator forces electrons to flow through an
external electrical circuit. It is somewhat analogous to a water pump,
which creates a flow of water but does not create the water inside.
AC Generator
o An AC generator converts mechanical energy into alternating current
electricity. Because power transferred into the field circuit is much less
than power transferred into the armature circuit, AC generators nearly
always have the field winding on the rotor and the armature winding on
the stator.
DC Generator
o An electric generator is a machine that converts mechanical energy into
electrical energy. An electric generator works based on the principle that
whenever conductor cuts the magnetic field,an emf is induced which will
cause the current to flow if conductor circuit is closed.
II. CONTENT STANDARD:
The learners should be able to identify the different types of Electrical machines
III. PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners should be able to discover the functions of different Electrical
machines
IV. LEARNING COMPETENCIES: At the end of a lesson, I can:
A. List down the electrical machines
B. Explain the function of each electrical machines
V. ASSESSMENT:
Essay
o In your opinion what is the importance of these electrical equipment in
industry?
