PREFACE

All praise and gratitude writer prayed to Allah the Almighty God who has given His grace and
guidance. So authors do not experience barriers to the completion of a paper entitled "Virtual
Laser Keyboard". In this occasion, in the writing of this paper the authors get a lot of support
from various parties, therefore, the authors also wish to thanks a lot for:

1. Our parents, that always giving us good support to the support in the form of moral and
material support.
2. Dr. Aries Subiantoro, ST.,M.Sc.as Director of CCIT-Faculty of Engineering, University
of Indonesia

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

I.1 Background
Currently the technology has been developing very rapidly, as well as the
development of information technology and komputer.Terutama in countries - developed
countries, the technology has a very important role in people's lives there.

As if - it would be almost all aspects of the activities, not separated from the name of technology.
Similarly, for developing countries, especially Indonesia, emerging technologies and become a
magnet for the public is the computer.

One example, which is closest to us is how the development of the keyboard itself. Indeed, the
arrangement of the letters are not

has developed so meaningful, because it was formalized as a keyboard standard ISO

(International Standard Organization).

But unlike the physical form, which continues to be developed and designed in a way that is
more practical and more attractive. Keyboards are generally rectangular encountered at this time
had begun to develop flexible keyboard up by a sensor hologram.

I.2 Writing Objective

a) Knowing what laser virtual keyboard

b) Knowing the benefits of using virtual laser keyboard
c) Deficiency of Laser Virtual Keyboard
d) Describe the history Virtual Laser Keyboard

I.3 Problem Domain

Discussion of issues on the task this time, it is emphasized in the discussion on the
definition of the virtual keyboard, virtual keyboard utilities, the advantages and disadvantages of
the virtual keyboard. Afterwards discuss how virtual laser keyboard work and find out what it is
virtual laser keyboard.
I.4 Writing Methodology
The method used is the method of research with data collection techniques using
observartions from reliable media such as internet.

I.5 Writing Framework

Chapter I :Introduction
It consists of background, writing objective, problem domain, writing methodology, and
writing frame.
Chapter II :Basic Theory
It discusses about basic theory of virtual laser keyboard such as definition, history etc.
Chapter III :Problem Analysis
It provides more explanation about Architechture virtual laser keyboard.
Chapter IV :Conclusion and Suggestion
It contains about the summary of Architechture virtual laser keyboard which has been
discussed in chapter III (Problem Analysis).
CHAPTER II
BASIC THEORY
II.1 Definition Virtual Laser Keyboard
Virtual Laser Keyoboard (VKB) is a revolutionary technology designed to
facilitate its use, particularly users who have high mobility and need a keyboard for typing.
Using Laser Beam technology to produce perfectly display a keyboard that can be directly
pressed. Virtual Laser Keyboard is logically going to give clock as the actual keyboard, the
Virtual Laser Keyboard is if the laser projection that appear blocked (repressed), it will
automatically be recognized as giving a clock on the interface.
Virtual Laser Keyboard of study is the identification technology adaptable finger movements to
interpret and press the keystroke, because the virtual keyboard is an image projected light and
disappears when not in use, it aims to conserve the battery. The advantages of this keyboard,
among others, anti-shock, anti-air, anti-fire, and others.
With the size of a lighter from his cigarette lighter Zipo lighters, menggunakanLaser Beam to
produce the perfect size and operation allows the user to use the Virtual Laser Keyboard as input
text or send emails like using a normal computer keyboard.
Virtual Laser Keyboard can Guanakan in all kinds of PC because it was supported by the USB
slot of course, enables the user (user), because it is user friendly (familiar) with this device. In
addition to the PC this device can also be used in other devices, such as:
1. Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)
2. Cellular Phone (Mobile)
3. Tablet PC
4. Personal Computer (PC)
5. SmartPhone
6. MAC
7. and others.
II.2 HISTORY
1992: An optical Virtual Keyboard was invented and patented by IBM engineers,
It optically detects and analyzes human hand and finger motions and interprects them as
operations on a physically nonexistent input device like a surface with paihnted or projected
keys.
2002: Start-Up company Canesta developed a projection keyboard using their
proprietary electronic perception technology. The company subsequently licensed the
technology to Celluon of Korea

II.3 Benefit use Virtual Laser Keyboard

Virtual keyboard serves to replace the function of the actual keyboard and prevent
it from blackhacker, keyloggers, spyware, and detecting and steal passwords or no credit cards
were typed directly into a real keyboard. So the letters on the virtual keyboard in use mouse
clicks the user satu.Kemudian virtual keyboard is ideal for use in space. The sensor will be read
via infra-red, in accordance with what is typed on the keyboard. Moreover, this virtual keyboard
can be connected and used via PDA, salurantelepon, laptop, PC, tablet, equipment in space, to
the industrial area, in a vehicle, whether air, water, and land. This product is also more sterile
than the use of the manual keyboard.
CHAPTER III
PROBLEM ANALYSIS
III.1 How it works Virtual Laser Keyboard (VKB)
1. Diffractive Optical Element (DOE)
Is emitting a laser beam like a laser pointer, and projecting it into a proportional keyboard
image on the surface of the flat.

2. CMOS (Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor)
Is the finger motion capture infrared light that passes through the projection area VKB
with CMOS sensor.

3. Virtual Interface Processing Core
Is a special chip that analyzes the user's finger movements that caught VKB.
Then the way it works is:
1. The laser beam will display the keyboard in accordance with the form of the refracted
surface level.
2. Bias infrared transparent will be projected into a virtual keyboard.
3.Typing generated through the finger, will lead to key-stroke.
The emphasis by the finger is why the meeting between the emission and infrared rays
simultaneously, which produces a direct reflection to the projector.
4.Reflection infra infra red filter will pass through to the camera.
5.The camera then take a picture in accordance with the capture of infrared.
6.Chip of the sensor will be adjusted the infrared beam is broken, then translate the
coordinates.
7.Characters created will appear on the screen, using the coordinates received wirelessly
or wirelessly.

Each time you press the button, a switch below the key will be closed, and sends a small
electrical current through the grid, which will be arrested in and analyzed by processor (on the
keyboard). Furthermore, the processor sends information to a computer editorial. That's how the
regular keyboard. When you type on a VKB, no switch is involved. Because, in fact, there are no
elements that move at all. VKB projecting images QWERTY keyboard on a flat surface
(yangtidak reflect light) using reddiodelaser.

Advantages of Virtual Keyboard

1. Easy to Use
2. Clean
3. Multi Function for various gadgets
4. Practical
Disadvantages Virtual Keyboard
1. Expensive
2. Can not be used in the light
3. Using a Battery
CHAPTER IV
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

IV.1 Conclusion
Based on the above discussion it can be concluded bahwaVirtual this Keyboard
have advantages and disadvantages of each, this keyboard suitable for in use for people who
travel a lot. However this keyboard the price is very expensive so it is less so in the interest.

IV.2 Suggestion
People, try to start a virtual keyboard technology, because with seinring the times,
the virtual keyboard is easier to use than a regular keyboard, although the price is expensive,
with over time will become a technological revolution on how typing than using a regular
keyboard,
