Max Control with WinMax Software

The power of the Max control with WinMax Software is the result of Hurco's three
decades of customer-centered software experience combined with the proven platform of
Microsoft Windows. Power packed with 25 new features and hundreds of enhancements
to existing software features, our engineers designed WinMax to maximize efficiency,
increase productivity, and improve surface finish. The Max control is equipped with two
programming options so you can decide the best programming method for each job
Hurco's shop floor programming, called Hurco Conversational, or NC (M and G codes)
part programming.
Conversational programming allows you to program a part at the machine by reading the
print or program worksheet. As you program the part, prompts and questions appear on the
screen. You respond by selecting machine operations or entering part dimensions. The
software steps you through.
NC part programs can be created using the CNC software on the control or imported
from an offline CAM System. With an enhanced NC interpreter, multi-line NC run time
monitor with a G-Code modal display, and canned G-Code probing cycles, the NC side of
the Max control is just as powerful as the Conversational programming method for which
Hurco is known.

Software Option Explanations:

Advanced Verification Graphics with solid 3D rendering: (applies to NC or Conversational)

The WinMax Advanced Verification Graphics with Solid 3D Rendering let you see an accurate representation of
the part that isn't possible with wire frame graphicsespecially for complex surfaces that combine both
roughing and finishing passes in the same G-Code file. This software feature also provides dynamic rotation,
pan, zoom, and real time tool rendering. Additionally, you can assign specific colors to specific tools for easy
identification. Significantly reduces scrap and save programming time.

Industry Standard NC: (applies to NC Programming)

Enhances the existing Hurco NC dialect with a more powerful NC programming option. This software package
adheres to either the ANSI/EIA RS-244-D standard terminology for BNC mode or the FANUC 0 programming
standard for ISNC mode. In addition, the NC programming facilities were designed to allow the operator to use
as much of the Ultimax Conversational programming system as possible. As a result, most of the screens are
the same for both the NC and the Conversational programming languages. This allows for a smooth transition
between the two dialects.

Industry Standard NC Macro Package: (applies to NC Programming)

The NC Macro Package (NCMP) option provides features that enhance productivity and aid in producing
smaller, more powerful, and easier to maintain NC programs. NCMP features include variables; subprogram
calls, macros, user-defined codes, mathematical equations and address expressions, and M99 jump
statements. The NCMP option requires the presence of the ISNC option.

Select Surface Finish Quality (SFQ): (applies to NC or Conversational Programming)

This software feature balances surface finish quality with run time. Using an on-screen selector, choose the
desired surface finish quality (from 1-100) and the software automatically adjusts throughput accordingly. The
higher the number you choose for the surface finish quality, the longer it will take to cut the part.

UltiPocket Option: (applies to Conversational Programming)

The UltiPocket programming option adds special milling routines for machining pocket boundaries with
islands. This option provides complete clean out of odd-shaped pockets without cutting the islands
programmed inside the boundary. The software automatically calculates the tool path around islands
eliminating the long task of plotting these shapes. Islands may also be rotated, scaled, and repeated. Now with
the additional programmable Helical Ramp Entry capabilities, the Operator has the option of selecting a helical
ramp entry plunge as an alternative machining strategy to the standard straight Z-axis plunge in conversational
programming. The operator can select straight or helical ramp entry plunges for separate roughing and finish
passes.
UltiPocket also includes the Cutter Insert Option that Cutter insert manufacturers often use mill pockets of
triangular, diamond, and hexagon shapes. These special shapes can be defined in one program data block.

DXF Transfer: (applies to Conversational Programming)

Transfer a CAD .dxf (Data eXchange Format) file to the control. You can edit the drawing at the machine
delete and/or Trim DXF geometry and explode PCurve geometry, which means that you can chain PCurve
geometry to other geometry without having to go back to the CAD software.

Swept Surface: (applies to Conversational Programming)

This powerful software feature simplifies programming of complex, 3D contours by using fewer data blocks.
The most dramatic improvement for making complex parts is the ability to define a 2D surface and sweep that
surface along a contourcreating complex 3D geometries within one conversational data block. In addition to
saving time, the continuous tool path generates a smoother surface finish. With draft angle pocketing, you can
create contours that define the walls of a pocket or island with an angleyou can define up to 10 profiles to
make a complex mold shape. Other benefits of Swept Surface include additional cutting strategies such as Z
roughing, Z spiral cut, programmable cusp height, and AutoCalculation of intersection points, and calculate Z-
start.

VM2E Proposal

Tool and Material Library: (applies to NC and Conversational Programming)

The impact of this software option for overall machining is sweeping and significant. The Tool and Material
Library stores the tool and material information with the machine instead of storing it with each individual part
program. You enter the tool data and geometry one time and then you just choose the tool from the list when
you need it. Additionally, the library reads the part program and automatically locates the tool or alerts you if it
doesn't exist. For material you're cutting, enter speeds and feeds and material data one time. Many
calculations, such as Part Zero Offset, are automatically configured by the control's software. In addition to
saving you time, the Tool and Materials Library eliminates the tedious redundancy of entering information
repeatedly and prevents common tool crash conditions.

NC/Conversational Merge: (applies to NC and Conversational Programming)

Existing G-Code programs can be incorporated into current conversational features, such as tool probing, part
probing, pattern operations, and scaling. Conversational users can call an NC program by using a simple
calling sequence (NC Macro).

Tool Center Point Management: (Applies to NC Programming Only)

The tool path is rendered in the part frame without involving the machine geometry. The software automatically
configures the coordinate transformation and machine geometry at run time. No need to specify part zero
location of the stock. Saves programming time and reduces errors when posting from a CAM system.

UltiNet: (applies to NC and Conversational Programming)

The UltiNet option adds capability and flexibility to your WinMax operation by providing connection to your Local
Area Network (LAN). Using UltiNet, you can communicate with other CNCs and with PCs or file servers
connected to your LAN using standard TCP/IP and FTP protocols. The UltiNet option can be utilized as a
hardwired system via a RJ45 connection or used in a wireless network environment.

Conversational Part Probing, MP700 or OPM40 (007-3010-015 or 007-3010-038):

These probing packages offer fully featured conversational data blocks designed to execute hands free part
and inspection probing. The part probing functions can be performed in manual mode or automatic mode within
the part program.
Note: Probing in NC requires the purchase of ISNC 007-4227-080 and NCMP 007-4227-070. Hurco does not provide the macro routines
that are associated with NC probing. Part probes require the Hurco interface kit P/N# 007-3010-043 for installation.

Conversational Tool Touch Probing, TS27R (007-3010-016):

This Tool Touch Probing package is a compact and robust tool setting probe which utilizes a stylus touch
application for accurate measurement of tool length and diameter in either a free spindle state or in rotation.
The tool probe can be operated manually or automatic within the part program and mounted at any position on
the table work surface in the X or the Y-axis plane.
Note: Probing in NC requires the purchase of ISNC 007-4227-080 and NCMP 007-4227-070. Hurco does not provide the macro routines
that are associated with NC probing. Tool Probes require Hurco interface kit P/N 007-3010-043 for installation.

Conversational Non-Contact Laser Tool Probe, NC4 (007-3010-042):

This Tool Probing package is a compact and robust tool setting probe which utilizes a laser beam non-contact
application for accurate measurement of tool length and diameter in either a free spindle state or in rotation.
The tool probe can be operated manually or automatically within the part program and mounted at any position
on the table work surface in the X or the Y-axis plane.
Note: Probing in NC requires the purchase of ISNC 007-4227-080 and NCMP 007-4227-070. Hurco does not provide the macro routines

This extended warranty covers the basic machine tool and control as supplied by Hurco
Manufacturing Limited. Value added options purchased and supplied with the machine are not
covered by the extended warranty. This includes, but is not limited to, Rotary Tables, Probing, CTS
systems, Pallet Changers, Linear Scales, High Speed Spindles, Dust Collection Systems, Vices,
Tooling and Accessories, or any other Third Party equipment. These items are covered under their
standard one-year or supplier quoted warranties.
System upgrades and retrofits and software updates of any kind are not considered warranty items.
Lifetime hours of operation are taken from the hour meter imbedded in the Ultimax software that is
activated during the machine installation. This meter tracks the hours that the machine servo
system is enabled and is not re-setable.
Parts that are ordered under this program that have a cost in excess of $1000.00 will need to be
verified as being defective and replaced by a Hurco certified field engineer. This work would be
billed at normal service rates unless an additional agreement was in force to cover the labor costs.
