Joyce Sigelko For all of you on Medicare...you will be sent a NEW Medicare card between
April, 2018 and April, 2019. Your new card will NOT have your social security
President Elect number on it. You will be given a NEW ID number that will be unique to you

recruiting seasonal volunteers to fill vacancies in its home meals delivery service.
The program provides hot and cold meals for the elderly, home-bound, or people
with special dietary needs. Volunteers are generally assigned one day a month and

March 12 year. What do we mean? We mean please recruit one new retiree to join MARSP. You can

your pension, so he or she has a huge stake in our endeavors regarding pensions and

health care. Thank you to the many members who have already recruited their beneficiary

or other new member. Another way to bring a new retiree into our fantastic organization is
10:30
to give a gift of membership. Either use the form in your most recent VANGUARD or
download a form from our website, marsp.org. You might also know of a former member
who just hasnt gotten around to renewing his or her membership. Give that person a gift,
or maybe just a reminder. Lost the form? Get that person a new one ASAP. When the time
comes, make sure you renew your membership. Rather than put the renewal mail aside,
take care of it right away. We dont want to lose you. Auto-renewal is also available.

INSURANCE
The good news about the insurance is there is no change in the deductible and co-insurance. The cost may have
changed slightly, a little less and the Dental/Vision a little more, overall a small savings. We will be going back to
EyeMed for vision coverage. You will receive a welcome packet from them.
More good news from Blue Cross is all members will receive a 100% covered physical each year and routine lab
work covered at 100%. For Non-Medicare members the time frame from January to April is removed. For Medicare
members you may need to make the appointment one year and one day from the last physical/Wellness Visit.
It is that time of the year to think about flu and pneumonia shots. Talk to your primary care physician/
provider. If you have a new baby in the family, talk to your primary care provider about the shot for pertussis/
whooping cough.

Meet Mary Ida Doan

Hi, my name is Mary Ida and I have been a member of BARSP for 30 years, through my late husband Nate
Doan. I am currently the head elf at the Nate and Mary Ida Doan Santa House. Before that I was Mrs.
Santa for fifty seven years.
Nate and I taught Santa School from 1966-1990 and I am still an advisor for the school, which will be 80
years old this year.
I retired this year from the Fireworks Festival Committee after having volunteered there for twenty-five
years. This February I did, however, volunteer for the Fireworks Telethon.
I am looking forward to slowing down and starting to enjoy retirement. You can still see me at BARSP
meetings selling raffle tickets.
