Photosynthesis Everything You Need to Know.

Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that happens in the leaves of plants.

Photosynthesis can be based on this equation. It is where plants create energy and gain from
food from.
Carbon Dioxide + Water + Sunlight Oxygen +Glucose
It takes place in chlorophyll as it contains photosynthetic membranes (thylakoids)
which is light dependent based reactions. But plants also of light independent reactions that
happen outside the chlorophyll located in the stroma. Three things affect the photosynthesis
system concentration of carbon dioxide, temperature and the light intensity.
The chlororphyll makes up a huge part of these processes.

Light reactions are the first few stages of photosynthesis and it all happens in the
grana. This where the direct sunglight is absorbed to excite

Photosystems, large complexes of proteins and pigments (light absorbing) that are
optimized to harvest light. They play a key role.
There are two types
of photosystems.
Photosystem I (P700/PSI)
and photosystem II
(P680/PsII). These are able to
capture the light energy so
that energy can be created
from them.

Photosystem 1 is affect by wavelengths longer the 680nm while photosystem II is

affected by shorter.

Photosystem I: Light-dependent reactions use energy from sunlight to produce oxygen and
convert ADP and ANDP into the energy carriers ATP and NADPH.
It absorbs light energy, uses electrons from PSII to reduce NADP+ to NADPH in the stroma
with electrons
Photosystem II: Light energy is captured by chlorophyll and transfered into hi energy
electrons; Water is broken up in to Oxygen and Hydrogen Ions and Electrons; Electrons are
sent to electron transport chain. This happens first. Before photosystem 1. So they lead into
each other.
During the light-independent reactions, ATP and and NADPH from the light-dependent
reactions are used to produce high-energy sugars.
