RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Blogger is an online resource through a persons Google account that allows them to easily store information and publish their
work to share with others. It can be shared publicly, with anyone in your Google friend circles, or with anyone using the same
school email address. Its very simple to use, and has the capabilities to embed Youtube videos or images directly from a persons
Google account. It makes collaboration easy because there are options to comment on blog posts. A person can also see the
overall stats of their page, such as how many views they have had and from what countries those views came from. The simplistic
themes can be easily customized to suit the user, and the html information can be adjusted for those who know how to code web
pages for an even more customized blog page. A master list of all posts ever published onto the blog is easily accessible to review
past posts.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PORTFOLIOS

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote student-centered learning?

I might use this resource for all my students to work both independently and collaboratively with one another. The blog posts
theyd make would be homework that theyd do every day, or larger homework assignments that are uploaded once a week. This
way it keeps the information accessible to the teacher and a progression of student achievement is visible. It can be used for any
subject that needs a space for content to be uploaded and reviewed repeatedly.

In terms of collaboration, students can comment on one anothers blog posts, leading to helpful peer editing on essays or lively
class discussions regarding any number of topics. The possibilities are quite endless. Students can copy and paste their essays into
their posts for either the teacher or other students to review.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
Based on the value-added rating scale above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I would give Blogger a 3 because it can be very useful for class discussions and is a great resource to review when examining a
students progression throughout the school year. Its very bare-bones and basic, but thats what makes it so accessible. It isnt
convoluted, so younger students (even as young as second grade) could potentially use this platform as a work resource. The
website is a perfect place for students to write bell-work or their e-tickets. Teachers can also review the day and time a blog is
published to keep students honest about meeting deadlines and staying on task throughout the week or year.

Not only can students use it, but teachers can use it as well to upload rubrics, homework, previously-completed assignments, and
lesson plans to share with other teachers. Students can search for their teachers blog and find the homework they need to
complete that night. It can be thought of as a simple online classroom, or a public work space for teachers within a school to
share information, ideas, and lesson plans.
