Progressive

One year
ago, we
met
in Washington. DC,
on

after
the

of

,
to
come together
and
talk
about
what
had
just
happened.
At
the
spring

summit,
we
mapped
ambit

power
in the states and
defend democrat

aga
inst the assaults
of
the
new
Trump Administrati
on.
This
week
we
meet
to
report
on progress. cel
ebrate
last week's victories for progressives from coast to
coast. learn from
our
shortfalls, and
chart
a course
forward.
With
so
many
important issues on
the
tab
le this year.
no
single conference can sufficiently provide
the
in
-
depth attent
i
on
they
all deserve. As we have always
done, th
is conference
brings together
recognized progressive leaders
from
established beacons
of
our
cause
with
those leading the
new
resistance
movement
nationally and
vita
l
efforts
in batt
l
eground
states.
Over
the
next four
days, we
'll work
together on many key
cha
ll
enges, including:
Turning resistance energy into electoral
act
ion
Mobi
lizing low~propensity voters in the progressive base
and
reachi
ng
out
beyond
rt
Fighting
to
take
back
the states Learning from
the
health care
fight
, and suiting
up
for
the next big
legislative battles
of
tax
reform, jobs, and infrastructure Discussi
ng
why the economy is central -
what we ve
done
wrong
and how
to
get
it
right
Understand
i

how
this year's
extreme
weather
disasters
are
making climate change
an
even
more
urgent
po
litical issue.
In
short
talks
throughout
the conference. we'll
hear
calls
to
action on
the
fight for
the
dreamers, religious
exemption
laws that
gut
civil
ri

protections. and el
ection
security. The agenda also offers deep-dive,
Partner-sponsored sessions on topics such
s
social
media
and elections. California's progressive
template
.
and
the i
mportance
of
prosecutor races. As always, Partners will have
opportun
ities for frank exchanges
about
items
of
interest
and
or
concern
to
the
DA
community.
It's
been
a challenging year, in which a
ll
of
us are
working
to
rebuild political
strength while fighting
to
protect
our
democratic
institutions and
globa
l security from unprecedented threats. The Democracy
Alliance
doesn t
have all the answers -
but
in our diverse and spirited
com
munity,
we
can challenge
one another
in
civil and constructive discussions
so the
critical
work
we
do
together has the i
mpact
we want
and
of
whi
ch
our
country
so desperately deserves. Thanks
for
being he

for
all
you
do
for
a progressive future.
