Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Before the students participate in the Kahoot properties of matter review game, students will receive a
review. The teacher will review the states of matter with the students. There will be a discussion about what
solids, liquids, and gases are, and how to identify them. Students will then get out their individually assigned
iPad to play the Kahoot game.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Students will start by logging onto their assigned personal iPads. The students will visit https://kahoot.it/ and
enter the given game pin to enter the game. Once logged in, each student will enter their name and wait for
the rest of the class to be entered into the game. Once everyone is ready, the game will begin. The first
question will be presented on the SMART Board, students will pick their corresponding answer and click their

answer on the iPad. To make sure the students have fully understood the question, the teacher will read the
question out loud before moving on to the next question. The answers are coordinated by colors and shapes,
red triangles, blue diamonds, orange circles, and green squares. This activity that holds eight questions and
should last no longer than 15 minutes.

2. Which of the following is a gas?
3. Which state of matter is shown in this picture?
4. What are the three major states of matter?
5. Solid, liquid, and gas are all types of?
6. Which of the following is an example of a solid?
7. This picture is an example of what state of matter?
8. What state of matter is inside the balloons?

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?

Once the last student has answered the current question, the correct answer will be displayed on the screen.
Students will be able to tell how they are doing throughout this activity; however, this is not a grade based on
accuracy. I do want students to have the immediate feedback in order to understand what they need to
study more before the test.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the Kahoot is played, the teacher will collect the iPads to take away any distractions. The teacher will
then lead a class discussion about the commonly missed questions.

How will the data be used?

Students will receive immediate feedback after each question and know what they need to work on to make
progress in their learning. The teacher will use the data to have a class discussion about the commonly missed
problems. Students will receive a completion grade for participation. This is practice before they are tested on
the material.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

Student Response and Assessment Tools
For my personal learning goal, I am teaching a new standard in a new unique way. Kahoot is an exciting way
for students to learn; however, sometimes students can get rowdy while using it. Therefore, when
implementing this in the classroom, my goal is for students to control themselves in hope that this is an
activity that can be used frequently in the classroom. I hope that this activity really hopes students be
motivated to learn and enjoy this activity.
