Lesson idea implementation:
The introduction to this assignment will be done step by step with the students. We will talk about how
we have been practicing addition and subtraction and how well they have been doing but need just a tiny bit
more practice. I will first begin with assigning IPads and helping the students login to their IPads. I will then
put my IPad on the doc cam and walk them through the beginning process and a few example problems. The
students will create a username with the App and join our group so I will be able to track process of each
student. I will allow the students to practice addition and subtraction on the app for 30-45 minutes. I will

monitor the students work by walking around and making them check in with me before moving up a level.
The students work will be assessed through the app by joining our classroom on the app and checking in with
me after each level. During the lesson I will walk around and help students as they need with the problems.
I will keep tract of problems that mess students up and go over those with the class to conclude the
assignment. After each student reaches a certain level on the practice they will be considered done and can
just keep going until everyone reaches the desired level set by me. After each student is done we will put the
IPads up and go over the problems that gave the students issues and make sure each student understands the
problems. I will provide feedback by monitoring what the students are having problems with (if having
problems) and either work one on one or with a small group to help the student understand what they dont
understand. During this project, I will figure out a lot of new things about the students. The biggest being the
students who learn better or worse using IPads. I will learn which students do better on pencil and paper,
using fingers, or mental math. I will extend their learning level using the levels on the game. As they reach a
higher level, the levels will get harder making them think a little harder each level. This will also help me
assess which level the students are at in addition and subtraction.
