OBJECTIVES:
-S will dictate the rhythm used in the song
- S will clap and speak the rhythms with 80% accuracy
-S will perform the movements with 90% accuracy without singing
-S will sing and dance the song with 80% accuracy of notes, rhythms and movements
MATERIALS
- Projector
-SMARTboard


ACTIVITIES
a. T will provide S with background information about the origin and uses of the song.
1. Background

- "What does anyone think these two words are?"


2. Debka Hora
a. T will first sing for S
b. T will discuss the rhythms used in the song
i. T will select a S (or Ss) to see if they know and can read the rhythm correctly & will
write the rhythmic syllables on the board
ii. T will have S say the correct rhythm and clap along to it.

c. T will have S clap the rhythm all the way through 2 times
-T sings through the song the second time through
3. Dance
a. T will have S move to a standing circle while T sings through the song
b. T will model the first step for S (step, in front, step, behind)
c. T will- add
Have S join, repeat several times
the two kicks that follow, and have S add that on to the first step
- Repeat several times
d. Twhile
will then have S perform the entire A section (with repeat) several times through,
T sings.
e. T will then go step by step through the B section (right, up, left, up, right, up, back to spot)
- Repeat several times
f. T will return to address any errors or challenges made in the movement
g. T will invite S to join in song, will repeat a few times to review what they have been hearing and will have them sing.
h. T will then have S perform the entire dance several times through
- If time allows, T will split the class into two smaller groups and have them perform for their peers

*In a future lesson, S will play the song on xylophones*

ASSESSMENTS
- T will select S to dictate the rhythmic syllables

- T will observe the movements, repeating instruction until the entire class has 90% accuracy
- T will observe and listen for rhythmic and melodic accuracy during the song

- T will further observe when S are split into two smaller groups
