Describe how you would incorporate an Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your
classroom (Minimum 2 paragraph overview):
Students will be finishing up a unit on pollution, recycling, and the environment. They will be split into
groups of 3, and assigned a problem. Some problems will include overfilled landfills, or air pollution. They will
have to come up with a solution to help solve these problems starting with what they can do in their school.
Students will go on http://projectgreenschools.org and read about their mission and how they strive to make
schools go green. This website will make them think of school implementations they can encourage.
Once each group has an idea, they will create a power point on their solution. Each group will post their
projects on the class blog. Then they will send in their solutions to the school administration to see if theyd
like to or could implement any of them. After the administration picked a few of the solutions to implement
like having recycling bens etc. The teacher will help the class come up with a project presentation to turn into
the Project Green Schools website for an opportunity to be feathered.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom?
Computers, and iPads.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be
addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level).
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their
school: Students will be in groups within the classroom and post their projects on the class blog. They
will also share their work with the administration and the website. All while keeping student identities
safe.

b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (creating original data and or producing original
products as a result of engaging in a project): Students will come up with ideas on their own and
share them with each other on the classroom blog.

c. Higher-order thinking: Students will have to try and solve a world problem. Finding a solution to solve
environmental problems will make them think beyond their own world.

d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: Students
will publish their work on the classroom blog in a locked section that will need a password to access, so
students, parents and teachers will see them. Then it will be shared with administration without

Lesson idea implementation and Internet Safety Policies: I will have students be protected by not using
their names, while publishing their work. I will also have them be closely monitored while using the internet
and have a list of links for them to access to keep them on track.
