Student Information System

Purpose:
The goal of this project is to create a computer application wherein that can be used by
educational establishments to manage student records and information. With this application
teachers and administrative staffs can save time and have immediate access to a variety of
student data.

Scope:
The Student Information System or SIS helps teachers and administrative staffs to
manage their students information including the students ID number, name, address, age,
gender, year, contact info, and parents/guardian personal information. The Administrator can
have the control over the system and is responsible for the management of the students
information.

Hardware Interfaces:
This system can run on computers with enough processing power to run the system like
amd a4 and newer amd processors as well as inter processors like intel i3 and newer versions of
intel processors. The minimum ram requirement is 4gb.

Windows 7(32 and 64 bit)
Windows 8(32 and 64 bit)
Windows 10(32 and 64 bit)

Memory Constraints:
Primary Memory Minimum Requirement: At least 4gb
Secondary Memory Minimum Requirement: At least 500mb

Product Functions:
The SIS will allow access only to the authorized users with specific roles (System
Administrators).

User Characteristics

Qualification: At least matriculation and comfortable with English.

Experience: Should be well versed/informed about the registration process of the
university.
Technical Experience: Elementary knowledge of computers
Constraints
There will only be one administrator.
The delete operation is available only to the administrator. To reduce the complexity of
the system, there is no check on delete operation. Hence, administrator should be very
careful before deletion of any record and he/she will be responsible for data
consistency.
Assumptions and Dependencies

The login Id and password must be created by system administrator and communicated to
the concerned user confidentially to avoid unauthorized access to the system.
Registration process will be open only for specific duration.

External Interfaces
Functions
The SIS will allow access only to authorized users with specific roles (System
administrator, Faculty and Student). Depending upon the users role, he/she will be able to
access only specific modules of the system.
