MATERIALS AND SETUP
Whiteboards Have the whiteboard and cards out and ready
(scoresheet)
Cards (9 decks)
PROCEDURE
1. Median a la Mode Game
Students can play in groups of three or four
Give each group a whiteboard and a deck of cards
Tell them to take the face cards and jokers out of the decks so there are just numbers left
They will each take 7 cards each round
They each get the score of the median and mode of the cards that they have
o If there is more than one mode, they get the points for both modes
The first player to get 25 points wins (or 50 points; or 100 points)
REFLECTION
The students played the card game for the entire period today. I asked them for feedback at the end
to see how they enjoyed the activity. The students seemed to really like it! I got mostly thumbs up
with a few thumbs sideways. It was a good activity for them!
