Cirriculum Assessment

Formative
Formative assessments will be completed throughout the rehearsal through active
listening to tone quality, rhythm accuracy, pitch accuracy, appropriate style, and tuning.
Each section will be required to play an assigned segment in the office of the director for
feedback.
Summative
Students will complete a short essay explaining and discussing different elements used
in 20th century music. Students will also include a discussion about the separate
elements used in Charles Ivess music.
Students will be required to complete a brief research assignment to find various
additional pieces that were written in the 20th century and use similar elements to Old
Home Days.
Students will be assigned a weekly section of music to create a video assignment on.
Students will compose their own melody in the style of a waltz.
