1.0 SCOPE:

This work instruction is applicable for installation and welding of integrally reinforced branch connection outlet
fittings attached to outside of run pipe, also known as set on / stub on configuration.

2.0 RESPONSIBLITY:

Production supervisors are responsible to execute this work Instruction under supervision of Production
Engineers. Dimensional aspects shall be verified by Production/QC Engineers and Welding Aspects fit-up shall
be verified by Welding Engineer according to approved WPS/Drawing.

3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS:

ASME B31.1/ASME B31.3/IBR/Client Specifications, Drawing & Approved WPS.

4.0 PROCESS:

4.1 The reinforcing outlet is machine bevelled as required for quick-easy welding of the branch pipe on the
run pipe

4.2 The template shall be prepared on the run pipe as per inside of the reinforced fitting.

4.3 The hole in the run pipe is cut out before the fitting is welded on. The hole is to be cut and prepared as
per DDEL/WI/010 Rev 02.

4.4 All slag and rough edges be ground to a bright finish.

4.5 Proper welding gap is ensured by placing spacers under the fitting to provide a uniform welding gap
between the curvature of the run and base of the fitting.

4.6 The base joint is tack welded as per Work Instruction for Tack welding.

4.7 The fitting to run pipe weld size shall be considered adequate if the weld is filled out to the edge of
fitting weld bevel. Refer Figure 1 for the same. If the bevel angle exposed is equal to or greater than 50 degrees
the bevel shall be classified as a transition and the weld shall be considered complete.

4.8 Distortion due to deposit of weld metal on thin wall pipes where anticipated, shall be minimized by
restraining run pipe in the direction opposite of the anticipated direction.

4.9 100% weld visual shall be carried out on the inner fused surface between fitting and run pipe. Care
shall be taken to remove excess weld reinforcement, slags and weld spatter.

4.10 After welding, all slag, burrs and impurities from inside of pipe shall be removed by air blowing or by
other means. This process shall be verified by both QC and Production Engineer.

4.11 All non-destructive examinations shall be performed in accordance with applicable piping codes and
client specifications and meet the acceptance criteria therein.

5.0 RECORD:

Weld fit-up inspection report, Weld visual report from ERP shall be generated.
