Critical Gundam: The movies made of the original series, Wing, G.
Critical Real Stuff: Votoms, Yukikaze (is admittedly not famous so much as
something I hold to be god-like and underappreciated)
Good Games: Armored Core (3 is best starting place), Front Mission, ZoE, Ace
Combat.
VNs: Demonbane, MuvLuv (MuvLuv requires you to sit through an entire non-mecha 3/10
SoL VN to get to and appreciate, though, so it's a definite skip in my book. Still
famous though. )

Said anon is casual as fuck, do not listen to his suggestions, or do, it's your
call. Regardless, here's an additional list of suggestions:
Introductory Classics:
> Gundam (original series)
> Macross (Original Series)
> Mazinger (OS)
> Getter Robo (OS)
> Dancouga (OS)
> Panzer World Galient
> Tetsujin 28-Go!
Pure Cheese:
> Nadesco
> Gun X Sword
> TTGL
Season 3 Never
> Nights of Sidonia
Additionally, when it comes to full series vs. movie adaptations of series, it's a
matter of if you want to get through it as fast as possible at the sacrifice of
content and development, or if you want the whole story in exchange for ~60-80
episodes (depending on which series we're talking about). Typically, I must argue
in favor of the full series for the sake of getting the full experience, but it is
not always worth it. It's totally worth it with Mobile Suit Gundam though; the god-
father of modern mecha.
