Good morning,

Esteemed Secretary General, honorable chairs, fellow delegates, and distinguished guest, it is
an honor to represent The State of Algeria at the General Assembly.

Algeria’s economy is dominated by its export trade in petroleum and natural gas. the value of
exports and imports taken together equals 63 percent of GDP. Other than that, the economy is
dependent on light industries, mining, electrical, petrochemical, food processing
Capital markets are underdeveloped; private banks have grown, but the financial sector
remains dominated by public banks.

Despite the facts, over the years Algeria has encouraged entrepreneurship and startups by
improving their business development and registration processes which now takes up to 4 to 5
months. Historically this process would take up to 3 years. However, aspiring Algerian
entrepreneur face issues such as Lack of e-payment systems, sluggish bureaucracy, and scarce
access to financing.

On the other hand, the state of Algeria held a conference in order to highlight the new project
that focus on transforming Algerian cities in to smart cities. This conference highlighted the
new techniques and innovation of technology that will be used on the project.

The delegate of Algeria hopes for a fruitful and constructive debate in order to find realistic
resolutions for the topics at hand today.
