Annual Examinations for Secondary Schools 2016

FORM 2 ENGLISH LANGUAGE ORAL TIME: 10 minutes

TEACHER’S PAPER

Instructions to Teacher

1. Greet each student with the warm-up task. This part of the examination is not
assessed, as its purpose is to help the candidate be at ease and gain more
confidence in speaking.

2. Each candidate is given two tasks.

3. At the end of the exercise, the examiner thanks the student for his/her
performance.

Task 1
Ask the candidate six questions from the list in Task 1, which the candidate can relate
to. Make sure that the candidate is engaged in conversation for long enough
(approximately 3 minutes) to enable you to make an accurate and fair assessment of
his/her speaking skills. Do not rephrase or improvise questions.

Task 2

The examiner instructs the candidate to look at the picture and is given some time to do
so. The examiner allows the candidates approximately 1 minute to look at the picture.
The examiner will then ask the questions from the list in Task 2 to keep the candidate
talking for 3 minutes.
If candidates get stuck or give a limited answer to a question, the examiner will repeat
the question once. The examiner is to avoid rephrasing the question or asking a
different question.
