New Real Films
Sugar, executive-produced by New Real, had a good theatrical run in Toronto after winning
Best Feature at the Inside Out Festival 2004. Rights in many territories have been sold.
New Real is also executive-producing the Northwood Productions romantic comedy Cake,
starring Heather Graham and David Sutcliffe, currently in post production. Jennifer is
one of the producers of Childstar, Don McKellar’s second feature, which just had its world
premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Also during TIFF, territories were pre-
sold for the new Bruce LaBruce film, Von Gloeden, written by Michael Turner (Hard Core
Logo, The Pornographer’s Poem). New Real has a first draft of the comedy All Hat, adapted
from the best-selling novel by Brad Smith, and a final draft of A Discovery of Strangers
from the award-winning Arctic exploration novel by Rudy Wiebe.

co-production. We have just completed the romantic comedy Deluxe Combo Platter
starring Jennifer Tilly and Dave Thomas and commence pre-production next month on
the psychological thriller Civic Duty – a modern day Rear Window set against the paranoia
generated by the media post 911, starring Mira Sorvino. Our 2005 slate includes the epic
feature Partition a Canada/UK/South Africa co-production starring Jimi Mistry, Kristin
