As this area is often unattended until the library opens we are not able to let customers in due to security reasons. We also use this time before It’s cold outside! Why can’t we stand in the hall? opening to update the notice boards and ensure the foyer is clean and tidy. Thank you for your feedback. The public phone was removed due to the rise Please put back the public phone box. As the in mobile phone ownership and it’ increasing closest one that is working is a the station. A long cost to maintain. In future, if you require a taxi way to walk with books to get a taxi. please see a staff member who will be only too happy to call one for you. Libraries have changed over the last few years and are now providing more programs and events, with varying levels of noise. Sunday Today’s music was great. Sometimes it’s too Live Music at the library is an opportunity for loud but today was great! Have more of this and local musicians to perform in front of a live less of the stuff unsuitable to the library audience and for the community to experience environment. new and exciting talent. We hope you continue to enjoy the music and we appreciate your feedback. This year the library held a very special screening of the film Samson and Delilah, in Sorry not to see recognition in the library of support of NAIDOC celebrations. The AFI award NAIDOC week. winning film explores the issues of two teenagers from a remote indigenous community in central Australia. The library is open 7 days a week, across a large spread of hours to cater to our resident’s needs. The Library currently opens MondayYou shut too early Thursday until 9:00pm, Friday until 6:00pm and until 4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks for your feedback. Thank you for your suggestion, however, Playne Street is a very busy and often congested road and unfortunately, a box to return items near the road would encourage double parking, adding to the existing traffic flow problems.

You need a quick drop box near the road for when you cant’ get parked.

Please move the trees or cut the branches so tall people do not have to bend over or you will be sued by someone who pokes their eye from the sharp twigs because they didn’t see them. Thank you. I returned the CD over 5 weeks ago and this still has not been cleared on your system. I am having to use the help of your staff in order to use the library. Please attend to this matter.

Thanks for sharing this feedback. You will be pleased to know we have recently pruned the trees and removed the lower branches. Thank you for your feedback. This item has now been cleared on our system and we hope you continue to enjoy unrestricted use of the library.

Our Response

Thank you for all your kind comments and appreciation of our service and staff. We aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is always great to hear from our satisfied customers.

It is awful: I am trying to concentrate on the computer and all I can hear are children, and some saying “rolly polly; where is Suzy; quack quack and clap clap” It is not appropriate. They need a room away from the general library. Please review this. It is not fair to people coming to enjoy the peace and quiet of a library.

More DVDs on show needed and more recent music on CD.

Thank you for your feedback. We welcome all members of the community to the library. We have separated the children’s area from the computers to minimize the level of noise. Every second Tuesday we provide TinyTots storytime to our youngest members for one hour and during that time a certain level of noise may be unavoidable. Some customers find it helpful to use headphones while working at the computers to help reduce any noise in the library. Thanks for these suggestions. We have recently purchased hundreds of films, especially Family films, which will be catalogued and made available for loan in the coming weeks. New CD and learning DVDs are added regularly but if there’s something specific you’re looking for, please lodge a request with our librarians. We appreciate your feedback. We receive a great deal of feedback throughout the month and we do aim to respond within the following month.

Why does it take so long for the feedback to be answered and put up. It is August and you only have May up. Very slow, not impressed.

Much easier to use staff. I have been attending your library for years and it is such a shame that human contact has almost gone. There needs to be a well defined area marked for queuing when wishing to talk to a staff member. At the moment patrons are confused as where to stand, so they are seen in order. The staff are friendly and professional. I have sensitivity to electronic equipment. I would welcome the concept of a coloured card to indicate that I need assistance with the checking unit The new system is hopeless, no proper queuing, only 2 self-serve machines and one hidden near the researcher’s desk. Number system to speak to librarians not being used Please supply more tables to sort out books, bags etc. We like your library. We need just some more family DVDs and Children’s DVD on maths and spelling games for computer. I am sure other children will benefit from these extra family movies and learning games. We have special need children and we need learning DVD for computor such as maths spelling Also more family DVD movies. If you can supply these this would be great service for My family. Thankyou I can’t seem to find (have I looked properly?) any language learning material on Hebrew and / or Yiddish – 2 separate languages which I would like to learn. There seem to be every (almost) other language material available. It would be great to find the above available at some stage soonish. Thank You! About ½ of all the DVD’s are scratched, damaged. Volunteers could be trained to use a DVD repair machine. I did that job for Echuca Library. Rosebud Library have a change drawer for photocopier use – need for one here for library users also signage needed for photocopier charge machine.

Our Response

Self-serve loans enable customers to have the option of do-it-yourself or choosing to have staff assistance. Members of the Library's customer service team are now stepping out from behind the counter to directly assist YOU the borrower.

We are constantly reviewing the way the new self-serve is operating. Thank you for your suggestion.

You have searched correctly; the Library no longer holds any current materials on learning these languages. We have a couple of kits on order from our suppliers to learn Hebrew and will select new items to learn Yiddish for the collection. Thanks for raising this with us.

We are considering whether a machine would be worthwhile given the low price of many DVDs now. Your suggestion of using volunteers is a good one, thank you. The staff are able to add money to your photocopier card if you don’t have change for the machine, please ask at the desk.

I think the Library is very good but needs more ghost books for kids. Thanks for all these suggestions. We’ll look into purchasing these. You need more beast quest books (by adam blad)

This library is great they should get more n:13 Ranma Books We changed the layout so that magazines on a particular subject are located together which has increased loans for this collection. As in other areas, we can have a trolley available for readers to leave unwanted magazines on and which can then be shelved by staff. Thanks for raising this issue with us.

The books (magazines) up the to be in alphabetical order as it would be easier for people to return them to there spot

To the management Frankston Library Service: I would be grateful if Management would look into the library service computer system where the customer is alerted of unpaid overdue accounts on borrowed items returned late at the time where a new borrowed item(s) is given to the customer at the computer terminal. That way, the amounts unpaid DO NOT accumulate over time, unbeknown to the customer, an when the amount is large. DVD cassettes that are unlocked when obtained from the library quite often have relocked by the time I arrive home. As far as I remember I have not locked them Please consider online payments for library fines more convenient than sending debt collectors! There should be more librarians on duty on the Info Desk over the lunch time period

Thank you for your feedback, we have made changes to the self-loans system to alert all customers once fines/fees reach $4.00.

Thank you for your feedback. Please return the locked cassette case to a staff member so we can investigate further. We are currently investigating and costing online payment systems. We hope to have made a decision in the next few months Thank you for your feedback, unfortunately our current rosters and budget don’t allow for extra staff over the lunch time period
