B.E. - Civil Engineering Cycle Test - 01 Time: 90 Minutes

I - Semester 09ME101 - Engineering Graphics Max. Marks: 60

Part A Answer all the questions 6 x 2 = 12 marks

01. Write about chain dimensioning and progressive dimensioning with an example.
02. What is meant by orthographic projections?
03. Two points A,B are placed in I and III quadrant respectively. Describe about the position of front view and
top view of point A and point B with respect to XY.
04. A line is placed parallel to HP with an inclination of 40° to VP. Draw its projections.
05. What is meant by traces of a line?
06. What are the different positions of a plane in a space?

Part B Answer any three questions 3 x 16 = 48 marks

07. One end of the line AB - 70mm long is 10mm above HP and 25mm infront of VP. The line is inclined at
35° to HP and 55° to VP. Draw the projections and indicate it’s front view and top view inclinations.
08. Length of the line AB in front view measures 60mm. A is 15mm above HP and 25mm in front of VP. B is
40mm above HP and angle of the line with VP is 30°. Draw the projections and find the true inclination
with HP.
09. A line MN has its end M 20mm above HP and 15mm infront of VP. The other end is 45mm above HP and
60mm infront of VP. If the distance between the end projectors is 50mm, find the true inclination and true
length.
10. A pentagonal plane of 25mm side is resting on one of its corner in the VP with its plane inclined at 45° to
VP and perpendicular to HP. Draw its projections.
