UNIT – I
CURVES
1. The focus of a conic is 50 mm from the directrix. Draw the locus of a point 'P' moving in
such a way that its distance from the directrix is equal to its distance from the focus.Name the
curve. Draw a tangent to the curve at a point 60 mm from the directrix.
2. Draw a hyperbola when the distance between its focus and directrix is 50 mm and
eccentricity is 3/2. Also draw the tangent and normal at a point 25 mm from the directrix.
3. Draw the involute of a circle of diameter 40 mm and draw the tangent and the normalto the
involute at any point on the curve.
4. Draw the conic curve, if the distance of focus from the directrix is 70mm and the
eccentricity is ¾. Also draw a tangent and a normal at any point on the curve.
5. A circle of 50 mm diameter rolls on a horizontal line for ¾ of a revolution clockwise.Draw
the path traced by a point P on the circumference of the circle. Also draw a tangent and
normal at any point on the curve.
6. Draw the locus of a point which moves in a plane in such a way that the ratio of its
distances from a fixed point F and a fixed straight line AB is always 2/3. The distance
between the fixed point F and fixed straight line is 50mm. Also draw a tangent and normal
on a point on the locus at a horizontal distance of 55mm from the fixed straight line.
7. Draw the involute of a circle of diameter 50mm when a string is unwound in the clockwise
direction. Draw a tangent and normal at a point located on the involute.
8. The front view of a line AB 90mm long is inclined at 45º to XY line. The front view
measures 65mm long. Point A is located 15mm above HP and is in VP. Draw the
projections and find its true inclinations.

UNIT - II
1.A line AB 80mm long has its end A 20mm above HP and 25mm infront of VP. The line is
inclined at 45º to HP and 35º to VP. Draw its projections.

2. A line AB 70mm long as its end A 35mm above HP and 30mm infront of VP. The top
view and front view has a length of 45mm and 60mm respectively. Draw its projections and
locate the traces. Also find the true inclinations with HP and VP.

3. The line AB has its end A 20mm above HP and 25mm infront of VP. The other end B is
45mm above HP and 55mm infront of VP. The distance between the end projectors is 50mm.
Draw its projections and find the true length and true inclinations with HP and VP.

4. The line AB 75mm long as its end A in both HP and VP. If the line is kept is inclined at
45º to HP and 30º to VP. Draw its projections.

5. End A of AB is 10mm infront of VP and 20mm above HP. It is inclined at 30º to HP and
front view is makes an angle 45º with XY. Its plan is 60mm long draw the projections find
the true length true inclinations with VP and locate the traces.

6. A line AB 65mm long has its end A 25mm above HP and 15mm infront of VP. It is
inclined at 35º to HP and 55º to VP. Draw its projections.

7. One end P of the line PQ, 75mm long is 20mm above HP and 25mm infront of VP. The
line is inclined at 30º to HP. The top view makes 45º with VP or XY. Draw the projections
and find the true inclinations with VP.

8. Draw the projections of a circular lamina has 50mm diameter and its plane vertical and
inclined at 45º to VP. Its centre is 40mm above HP and 60mm infront of VP. Also show its
traces.

9. A rectangular plate of side 50x25mm is resting on its shortest side on HP and inclined at
30º to VP. Its surface is inclined at 60º to HP. Draw its projections.

10. A hexagonal plate of side 30mm is resting on one of its side on VP and inclined at 40º to
HP. Its surface is inclined at 35º to VP. Draw its projections.

11. A circular lamina of side 50mm is resting on HP on a point on the circumference and is
inclined at 40º to VP. Its surfaces is inclined at making an angle of 50º to HP. Draw its
projections.

12. A circular lamina of diameter 40mm is resting on HP. The diameter is inclined 40º to HP
and 30º to VP. Draw its projections.

13. A hexagonal plate of side 30mm is placed with a side on VP and the surface is inclined at
45º to VP and perpendicular to HP. Draw its projections and locate the traces.

14. A circular plate of diameter 50mm is resting on HP on a point and the circumference with
in surface is inclined at 45º to HP and perpendicular to VP. Draw its projections.

15. A pentagonal lamina of side 30mm is negligible thickness is resting on VP one of its base
sides and is inclined at 45º to HP. Its surface is inclined at 50º to VP. Draw its projections of
the pentagonal plane.

16. A circular plate of diameter 50mm is resting on VP on a point on the circumference and it
inclined at 45º to HP. Its surface is inclined at making an angle of 50º to VP. Draw its
projections.

17. A pentagonal plate of side 30mm is resting on HP on one of its corners with its surface
inclined at 45º to HP. The side opposite to the resting corner is parallel to VP and farther
away from it. Draw its projections.

18. A square plate ABCD of side 30mm is resting on HP on one of its corners and the
diagonal AC inclined at 30º to HP. The diagonal BD of the plate is inclined at 45º to the VP
and parallel to the HP. Draw its projections.

19.A circular plate of diameter 50mm is resting on the HP on a point on the circumference.
Its surface is kept inclined at 45º to HP. Draw its projections when the line representing its
diameter and passing through the resting point is inclined at 30º to the VP.

20. Draw the projections of a circle of 70mm diameter resting on the HP on a point A of the
circumference. The plane is inclined to the HP such that the top view of it is an ellipse of
minor axis 40mm. The top view of the diameter, through the point A is making an angle of
45º with the VP. Determine the inclination of the plane with the HP.

UNIT 3

01. Draw the projection of a cylinder of diameter 40mm and axis 70mm long when it
rests on VP on one of its base points. The axis is parallel to HP and inclined at 30° to
HP
02. A hexagonal pyramid of base side 30mm and axis length 60mm is resting on VP on
one of its base edges with the face containing the resting edge perpendicular to both
VP and HP. Draw its projections.
03. A tetrahedron of edges 30mm rests on one of its edges on VP. The edge is normal to
HP. One of the face containing the resting edge is inclined at 30° to VP. Draw the
projections.
04. A cone of base diameter 60mm and altitude 80mm rests on HP with its axis inclined
at 30° to HP and parallel to VP. Draw its front and top views.
05. Draw the projections of a cone of base diameter 50 mm and axis of length 70 mm
resting on the ground on one of its generators with the axis of cone parallel to VP
06. A right regular hexagonal pyramid, edge of base 25 mm and height 50 mm, rests on
one of its base edges on HP with its axis parallel to VP. Draw the projections of the
pyramid when its base makes an angle of 45 to the HP

08. A hexagonal pyramid of base side 30mm and axis length 60mm is resting on HP on

projections when one of the base sides is equally inclined to VP.
09. Draw the projection of a square pyramid of base 40 side and axis 70 long, when the
solid lies with one of its slant edges on HP and the vertical plane passing through that
slant edge and axis makes 30° with V.P.
10. A pentagonal pyramid, with base 35 side and height 70 rests on one edge of its base
on HP so that the highest point on the base is 25 above HP. Draw its projection, when
the axis is parallel to VP. Draw another front view, on a reference line inclined at 45°
to the edge on which it is resting so that the base is visible.
11. A frustum of a cone diameter of base 60mm, diameter of top surface surface 30mm
and axis 45mm long is lying on HP on one of its generators. The plane containing the
axis and the generator makes an angle of 45 degree to VP. Draw its front and top
views.
12. Draw the plan and elevation of a right regular pentagonal prism side of base 25 mm
and axis 58 mm long when it is resting on its base on H.P. with one of its rectangular
faces making an angle of 30° to V.P.
13. Draw the projection of the cone of base 50mm and altitude 60mm lying on one if its
generators on HP. Follow the auxiliary plane method.
14. A hexagonal pyramid of base 30mm and axis length 60mm is resting on HP on one of
its base edges with face containing the resting edge perpendicular to both HP and VP.
Draw the projections.
15. Draw the projection of a pentagonal prism, base 25mm and axis 50mm long resting
on one of its rectangular faces on HP with the axis inclined at 45 degrees to VP.

16. A square pyramid of side 35mm, axis length 60mm is resting on VP such that one of
its sides makes 40° to the reference. The axis is inclined at 50° to VP. Draw its
projections.
17. A pentagonal prism of side 35mm and axis length 70mm is resting on HP on one of
its rectangular face such that the axis makes an angle of 35° with the VP. Draw its
projections.
18. A hexagonal pyramid of side 30mm and axis length 60mm is resting on HP such that
one of its rectangular faces is parallel to VP. The axis is inclined at 45° to HP. Draw
the projections.
19. A cube of side 30mm is resting on HP such that one of its lateral surfaces makes an
angle of 30 with the VP. The axis of the cube is inclined at 40 °to HP. Draw the
projections.
20. A cylinder of diameter 40mm is resting on VP with its axis inclined at 60° to VP.
Draw the projections of cylinder.

Unit 4

01. A cone of base diameter 60mm and axis 70mm is resting on HP on its base. It is cut
by a plane perpendicular to VP and parallel to contour generator and is 10mm away
from it. Draw its FV, sectional plan and true shape of the section.
02. A pentagonal pyramid of 25mm edge and height 60mm rests vertically on its base on
HP such that one of its base edge is parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 60°
to HP and passes through a point 35mm from the apex. Draw the development of the
lateral surface of the pyramid.
03. A cube of side 40 mm is placed and cut by a plane in such a way that the true shape of
the section is a regular hexagon. Draw the front and top views of the cube and
determine the inclination of the cutting plane with the HP.
04. A cylinder of diameter 40 mm and height 50 mm is resting vertically on one of its
ends on the HP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to the VP and inclined at 30° to the
HP. The plane meets the axis at a point 30 mm from the base. Draw the development
of the lateral surface of the lower portion of the truncated cylinder.
05. A square pyramid of base side 25 mm and height 40 mm rests on HP with its base
edges equally inclined to VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at
30° to HP meeting the axis at 21 mm from the base. Draw the sectional top view and
true shape of the section.
06. A vertical hexagonal prism of 30 mm side of base and axis 65 mm long has one of its
rectangular faces parallel to VP and nearer to it. A circular hole of 40 mm diameter is
drilled through the prism completely such that the axis of the hole bisects the axis of
the prism at right angles and is perpendicular to VP. Draw the development of the
prism showing the shape of the hole on it
07. A Pentagonal pyramid of base side 40mm and axis length 70mm is resting on HP on
its base with one of its base side parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 35 to
HP and perpendicular to VP and is bisecting the axis. Draw its front view, sectional
top view and true shape of the section.
08. A pentagonal pyramid edge of base 25 mm and height of axis 60 mm, has its base on
the ground and an edge of the base parallel to V.P. It is cut by a plane which makes an
angle of 45° to the V.P. and is passing 15 mm from the plan axis. Draw the sectional
elevation and true shape of the section.
09. A square pyramid of base side 40mm and axis length 75mm has its sides equally
inclined to HP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP and 40 to HP meeting the axis
at a distance of 40mm from the base. Draw the development of the lateral surface of
the pyramid.
10. A cylinder of diameter 60mm, 80mm height has a hole of diameter 45mm drilled
through it so that its axis intersects that of the cylinder at the middle and at right
angles. Draw the development of the cylinder.

11. A cone of base diameter 40 mm and altitude 70 mm rests on its base on the HP. It is
cut by a plane perpendicular to the VP and parallel to one of the extreme generators,
15 mm away from it. Draw the sectional plan and the true shape of the section.
12. A pentagonal pyramid of base edge 30mm and height 60mm is resting on its base
with one base edge perpendicular to VP. A cutting plane at 50 degree with HP
perpendicular to VP and passing through a corner cuts the pyramid. Draw the
sectional front view, top view and side view of the bottom portion & the true shape of
the section.
13. A pentagonal pyramid edge of base 25 mm and height of axis 60 mm, has its base on
the ground and an edge of the base parallel to V.P. It is cut by a plane, the H.T. of
which makes an angle of 45° to the V.P. and is passing 15 mm from the plan axis.
Draw the sectional elevation and true shape of the section.
14. A pentagonal prism of base edge 30 mm and height 70 mm is placed with one of its
rectangular faces on the ground and the axis parallel to VP. It is cut by a section plane
perpendicular to VP and inclined at 300 to the ground. It passes through the mid point
of the axis. Develop the remaining surface of the object.
15. Develop the surface of the hexagonal pyramid side 28mm and height 60mm. The
pyramid is resting on its base on the ground and one edge of the base is inclined at
20° to V.P.
16. A triangular prism of base 30mm side and 50mm axis length is lying on HP on one of
its rectangular faces with its axis inclined at 30 degrees to VP. It is cut by a sectional
plane parallel to HP and at a distance of 12mm above the HP. Draw its front and
sectional top view.
17. A cone of base 40mm diameter and axis 60mm long is lying on one of its generators
on HP with the axis parallel to VP. A horizontal section plane bisects the axis of the
solid. Draw the projections.
18. A pentagonal pyramid of base side 40mm and ais length 75mm is resting on HP on its
base with one of its base sides parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 35° to
Hpand perpendicular to BP, bisecting the axis. Draw the front vie, sectional top view
and true shape of the section.
19. A cylinder of base diameter 50mm and axis length 60mm is resting on HP on its base,
cut by a plane inclined at 55° to HP and perpendicular to VP. The cutting plane passes
through a point on the axis at a distance of 30mm from the top end. Draw the
development of the lateral surface of the truncated cylinder.
20. A square prism is resting on HP on a corner of its base with axis inclined at 60° to HP
and parallel to VP. It is cut by a horizontal section plane bisecting the axis. Draw the
development of the surface.

Unit 5
1. An object consists of a hemispherical vessel of 80 mm diameter which is placed
centrally over a cylinder of 50 mm diameter and height and 60mm. The cylinder in
turn is placed centrally over a square prism of 60 mm base side and 20 mm height.
Draw the isometric projection of the object.
2. Draw the perspective view of a square prism of edge of base 40 mm and length 60
mm lying on a rectangular face on the ground, with a corner on PP and the bases
equally inclined to PP. The station point is 60 mm in front of PP and 80 mm above
GL and lies in a central plane, which is passing through the centre of the prism.
3. A pentagonal pyramid of 40 mm edge of base and height 70 mm rests with its base on
HP. One of the base edges is perpendicular to VP and lies on the left of the axis of the
pyramid. A section plane perpendicular o VP and inclined a 30° to HP cuts the axis of
the pyramid at a point 30 mm above the base of the pyramid. Draw he isometric
projection of the truncated pyramid.
4. A square prism of 25 mm side of base and height 40 mm rests with its base on ground
such that one of the rectangular faces is inclined at 30° o he picture plane. The nearest
vertical edge touches the picture plane. The station point is 50 mm in front of the
picture plane, 60 mm above the ground and lies opposite of the nearest vertical edge
that touches the picture plane. Draw he perspective view.
5. A hexagonal prism of base side 20 mm and height 40 mm has a square hole of side 16
mm a he centre. The axes of the square and hexagon coincide. One of the faces of the
square hole is parallel to the face of the hexagon. Draw the isometric projection of the
prism with hole of full scale.
6. A regular hexagonal pyramid of base edge 20 mm and height 35 mm rests on its base
on the ground plane with one of its base edges touching the picture plane. The station
point is 30 mm above the ground plane and 40 mm in front of the PP. The central
plane is 30 mm to the right of the axis. Draw the perspective projection of the
pyramid.
7. Draw the perspective projection of a cube of 25 mm edge, lying on a face on the
ground plane, with an edge touching he picture plane and all vertical faces equally
inclined o the picture plane. The station point is 50 mm in front of the picture plane,
35 mm above the ground plane and lies in a central plane which is 10 mm to the left
of the center of the cube.
8. A cylinder of 50 mm diameter and 75 mm height stands with its base on HP. It is cut
by a section plane inclined at 45° to HP and perpendicular to VP passing through a
point on the axis 20 mm below the top end. Draw the isometric projection of the
truncated cylinder.
9. Draw the perspective projection of a cube of 25 mm edge, lying on a face on the
ground plane, with an edge touching the picture prism and all vertical faces equally

inclined to the picture plane. The station point is 50 mm in front of the picture plane,
35 mm above the ground plane and lies in a central plane which is 10 mm to the left
of the center of the cube.

10. A hexagonal prism of base side 30 mm and height 65 mm has a square hole of side 20
mm a he centre. The axes of the square and hexagon coincide. One of the faces of the
square hole is parallel to the face of the hexagon. Draw the isometric projection of the
prism with hole of full scale.
11. A hexagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm and height 60 mm rests on its base on the
H.P. with two its base edges perpendicular o the V.P. It is cut by a plane
perpendicular to the V.P. and inclined at 35° to the H.P meeting the axis at a point 35
mm above the base of the pyramid. Draw the isometric view of the truncated pyramid.
12. A hexagonal pyramid of base side 40 mm and height 70 mm rests on its base on the
H.P. with two its base edges perpendicular o the V.P. It is cut by a plane
perpendicular to the V.P. and inclined at 40° to the H.P meeting the axis at a point 30
mm above the base of the pyramid. Draw the isometric view of the truncated pyramid.
13. Draw the isometric view and isometric projection of a hexagonal prism of base side
245 mm and height 50 mm when it rests on one of its ends on the H.P. with two of its
base sides parallel to V.P.
14. Draw the isometric view of a cylinder of base 20 mm and axis length 50 mm, it is
resting on one of its ends on the H.P.
15. A cylinder of diameter 40 mm rests centrally on a square prism of side 50 mm and
height 35 mm. Draw the isometric view of the combination of solids.
16. A cube of side 40 mm is resting on a face on the ground such that one of its faces is
parallel to PP and centre of the solid is 10 mm behind the PP. The central plane is
located 20 mm to the left of the nearest vertical face of the cube. The station point is
30 mm in front of PP and 60 mm above GP. Draw the perspective view of the solid.
17. A square pyramid of side of base 50 mm and altitude 70 mm stands on the ground
vertically with an edge of base parallel to and 20 mm behind PP. The station point is
40 mm in front of PP and 70 mm above the ground. The central plane is located 45
mm to the lef of the axis of the solid. Draw the perspective projection.
18. Draw the perspective projection of a cube of 20 mm edge, lying on a face on the
ground plane, with an edge touching the picture prism and all vertical faces equally
inclined to the picture plane. The station point is 40 mm in front of the picture plane,
35 mm above the ground plane and lies in a central plane which is 10 mm to the left
of the center of the cube.
19. A regular hexagonal pyramid of base edge 25 mm and height 40 mm rests on its base
on the ground plane with one of its base edges touching the picture plane. The station
point is 30 mm above the ground plane and 40 mm in front of the PP. The central
plane is 30 mm to the right of the axis. Draw the perspective projection of the
pyramid.

20. A square prism of 30 mm side of base and height 40 mm rests with its base on
ground such that one of the rectangular faces is inclined at 30° the picture plane. The
nearest vertical edge touches the picture plane. The station point is 60 mm in front of
the picture plane, 70 mm above the ground and lies opposite of the nearest vertical
edge that touches the picture plane. Draw the perspective view.
