During unit 4 of Honors Physics we learned about forces.

During this unit I learned about

the different types of forces, and when the forces act upon objects. I learned how there are

different forces that act upon objects when they are accelerating and when they are at a constant

speed. I learned that the movement can determine whether there is a balanced force or an

unbalanced force. I learned about when each force acts upon each object and why the force acts

on the object.

The life skill I learned during this unit was that everything you do is involved with forces.

I learned that by Newton’s Third Law forces act in pairs. I learned that for every action there is

an opposite reaction. Whenever I see objects pushing on each other in daily life I will know that

there are forces that act on those objects. I will also know that whenever someone is walking or

sitting there are forces that act upon those people that cause them to be able to do those things.

Without forces you would not be able to do daily life activities. I now realize that forces

are very important for everyday life, and I will remember this in the future. When I see objects

interacting with each other I will know that forces have to affect those objects, so they can

interact. For example, when I play soccer I will realize that there are forces that act on me while I

run. The different forces that would act on me while I am running would be a normal force, a

frictional force, and a gravity force. There will be a normal force on me by the ground, there will

also be a gravity force on me by the earth, and lastly there will be a friction force acting on me

by the ground while I am changing directions or slowing down. This is the life skill that I learned

during the first semester of 9th grade Honors Physics.
