1. PROJECT OVERVIEW:
a. In jurisdiction of City of Medford. Topographic Survey of subject areas will need to be completed.
b. Geotechnical report may need to be completed.
c. Additions will require a planning approval, which must be investigated further.
d. Project must meet the Oregon Department of Energy requirement that 1.5% of the construction costs must be
spent on Green Energy Technology.

2. SITE IMPROVEMENTS:
a. Demolish Tech Arts Building that contains Cad Lab (TA-11) & Robotics Lab (TA-12).
b. Remove portion of east parking lot as required, leaving at least one row of parking and a 2-way drive lane adjacent
to Tennis Courts.
c. Add Roof over existing courtyard between Metal Shop (TA-8) and Auto Shop (TA-9). This will likely require
removal of the existing covered walkway roofs, Storage (TA17) and the dust collection system.
d. Paved and Unpaved Exterior Work Spaces within fenced compound adjacent to all shops.

3. CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION:


a. Remodeling:
1) Remodel existing Wood Shop (TA-10) and adjacent related spaces for new uses.
2) Remove south overhead door of Auto Shop (TA-9).
3) Move Custodial from demolished building to room east of Metal Shop (if the existing courtyard is
not roofed (per 2, c, above), this room will need to be in the new building).
b. Cad Lab: Replacement of existing Room TA-11 (1,700 SF).
c. Robotics Lab: Replacement of existing Room TA-12 (800 SF).

(Program below here is the same as SMHS)

d. Computer Lab: (1,255 SF)


1) Shared Computer Lab for Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical & HVAC.
2) (28) Workstations. Two per 6’-0” x 2’-0” table, with tables spaced 3’-0” apart (similar to NMHS Cad
Lab).
3) Large format Plotters.
4) Teachers Station near large White Board & Projector.
e. Drafting Lab: (1,755 SF)
1) Shared Drafting Lab with 3’ x 4’ adjustable Drafting Tables for 28 Students.
2) Use by Plumbing, Electrical & HVAC (not needed for Carpentry).
f. Typical Classroom Requirements: (816 SF)
1) Small Classroom adjacent to each of the four Shops.
2) Direct access to Corridors and Shops.
g. Typical Shop Requirements:
1) Concrete Slab floors with flexible electrical power overhead.
2) 12’ wide x 16’ high roll-up door with access to Exterior Work Space. Small Covered Roof outside
doors.
3) 20’-0” Clear Height to exposed roof structure and utilities below insulated roof deck.
4) Electric Water Cooler, Wash Basin, Service Sink & Emergency Eye Wash Station.
5) Forklift shared with all Shops.
6) Fully fire-sprinklered.

1) Carpentry Shop: (5,610 SF)
a. Good access to Unpaved Exterior Work Space for classes in foundations.
b. 52’ x 35’ Wood Deck for building projects (Seven 8’ x 12’ projects for 28 students with
4’ clearance between them).
c. 20’ x 34’ Mock Up with four rooms and a variety of doors, windows and ceilings.
d. (2) 4’ x 4’ Rolling Gang Boxes.
e. (4) 4’ x 9’ Rack Material Storage.
f. (4) 4’ Open Racks for 20’ Long Material Storage.
g. (3) 3’ x 6’ Rolling Scaffolding.
h. 12’ x 20’ Tool Room.
i. 12’ x 10’ Office.
2) Plumbing Shop: (2,720 SF)
a. (8) 6’-4” wide x 6’-0” deep CMU Welding Booths with adjustable steel tables & fume
extraction arms.
b. Rod Oven (for welding rods).
c. 10’ long Plexiglas Plumbing Wall with toilet, urinal & sink.
d. 8’ long stainless steel sink with (3) sets of faucets.
e. (3) 4’ x 8’ Work Tables.
f. 10’ x 15’ Tool Room.
g. 10’ x 15’ Storage Room for plumbing consumables.
h. 10’ x 10’ Office.
i. Area for Plumbing and Welding Equipment (equipment TBD).
3) Electrical Shop: (2,065 SF)
a. 10’ x 20’ Mock Room with electrical panels on walls and ceiling grid.
b. (5) Swing-Out Wall Panels (with plywood on one side) for installing electrical devices.
c. 4’ x 12’ Rack Material Storage.
d. 10’ x 15’ Tool Room.
e. 10’ x 15’ Storage Room.
f. 10’ x 10’ Office.
4) HVAC Shop: (3,230 SF)
a. Access to outdoor work area.
b. Door directly to Plumbing Shop for access Welding Booths.
c. 8’ x 22’ Outdoor Work Area for (3) Outdoor HVAC Units.
d. 12’ x 22’ Indoor Work Area for (3) Indoor HVAC Units.
e. 24’ long Soldering Bench (8 students at a time).
f. (9) 8’ x 4’ Work Tables with lockers below.
g. 20’ Wall Rack for Materials.
h. 10’ x 15’ Tool Room.
i. 10’ x 15’ Consumable Storage Room.
j. 10’ x 10’ Office.
k. HVAC Equipment (see Proposed Floor Plan for list and layout).
i. Restrooms:
1) Sized to serve building.
2) Custodial Room.
j. Gas Storage:
1) 8’ x 6’ alcove exposed to the exterior with locked chain link gates.
2) Divider between Oxygen and Inert Gasses.
3) Close to Welding Booths in Plumbing Shop.
