1000 Series Transceiver

EEV Magnetrons in RADARPILOT/CHARTRADAR and

MULTIPILOT 1000 Transceivers

Equipment affected: RADARPILOT/CHARTRADAR 1000

MULTIPILOT 1000
- S-Band Transceiver
- 25 kW X-Band Transceiver
- 12.5 kW X-Band Transceiver

Application: A high percentage of EEV magnetrons used in 1000 series

transceivers radiate radio frequencies far from their nominal
frequencies, which can result in damage of limiters and / or rf
frontends. Therefore if an old magnetron in a transceiver has to
be replaced, only NJRC magnetrons must be used.

Perform: ; during first setting-to-work

; during maintenance/service work
† as soon as possible
† fastest possible

† at customer’s request
† in coordination with the manufacturers service department
† as guarantee work (check with guarantee department)
† additional costs will be charged to the customer
† feedback to SAM required

Material required:

The required material depends on the service works that have to be performed. See the
cases 1...3 in the “Procedure” description on the following page.

S-Band:
- Magnetron NJRC M1302L, Order No. 5227611
- Limiter Marconi B3LT1023, Order No. 300004450
- Frontend Marconi B7RX1002, Order No. 5931753
or Frontend NJRC NJS4310D, same Order No.

X-Band:
- Magnetron NJRC 12.5 kW MSF1425A, Order No. 5227615
- Magnetron NJRC 25 kW M1475A, Order No. 5227616
- Limiter Marconi B3LT1654, Order No. 5227662
- Frontend Marconi B3RX1612, Order No. 5931754
or Frontend NJRC NJT1946A, same Order No.

Procedure:

Case 1:
If an old magnetron has to be replaced by a new one, only the above mentioned NJRC types
have to be used, never an EEV magnetron.

Case 2:
If a defective limiter or a defective frontend has to be replaced and an EEV magnetron is
mounted, both limiter and frontend (receiver) have to be replaced and the EEV magnetron
has to be replaced by an equivalent NJRC magnetron.

Case 3:
If a defective limiter or a defective frontend has to be replaced and a NJRC magnetron is
mounted, only the defective limiter or frontend has to be replaced.

After the replacement(s) the adjustments of the heating voltage and magnetron currents have
to be performed as described in the corresponding technical manual.
