KEYPAD BASED WIRELESS ORDERING SYSTEM USING ZIGBEE TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT:-
 Automation has gained importance in every field of human life
 But there are still some fields using traditional methods that field is ordering system in
restaurant.
 In restaurant menu ordering system basically will be available in menu card from that the
customer has to select the menu from the menu card and handed over to waiter.but,it is a very
time consuming process.
 In this project we propose fully automated ordering system.
 As the system is automated,it becomes economical even from restaurant point of view,as it
reduces manpower and it just requires one time investment in installing the devices at tables.
INTRODUCTION:-
EMBEDDED SYSTEM:
o An embedded system is a computed system with a dedicated function within a larger
mechanical or electrical system,often with real-time computing constraint.
o Ninety eight percent of all microprocessor are manufactured as components of embedded
system .
o Embedded systems control many devices in common use today.
o Modern embedded systems are often based on microcontrollers ,but ordinary microprocessors
are also common ,especially in more complex systems .
o This project give a method to improve the order system for dishes using Zigbee technology.
o The user will need to select the menu card by pressing the keypad, then the items displayed on
LCD.
o Finally, the order is then received by the ordering department and after that whole order is
placed.
o Then the bill will be generated on the LCD.

 Topic:-Touch based digital ordering system on andorid using GSM and bluetooth for restaurant.
 Year:-2015
 Author:-bhaskar kumar mishra
 Description:-In this paper,proposing an automated system using centralized database and an
android application. The android application installed in the touchscreen device fitted at the
table, contains all the menu details with picture of each items.
 Drawback:-In this paper, the Bluetooth Module has small network capacity the transmission
distance is too short.

 Description:-In this paper,proposed a fully automated ordering system in which the paper based
menu is replaced by touchscreen based menu card. The system consists of microcontroller is
interfaced with input and output modules.
 Drawback:- In this proposed paper, RF module is used. RF technology used in the range of
10kHz. Its transmission capacity is too short.

 Description:-The CWOS-RTF enables restaurant owners to setup the system in wireless
environment and update menu presentations easily Smart phone has been integrated in the
CWOS-RTF implementation to facilitate real-time communication between
restaurant owners and customers.
 Drawback:- In this proposed system, wireless system is implemented using Wi-Fi.
it has the range of 20m. As compared with zigbee it has short range of coverage.

 Topic: Research of zigbee wireless order system for dishes based on CC2530.
 Year:-2011.

 Description:-This paper give a method to improve the order system for dishes by zigbee
technology,to cut the cost and save human resources.This system realized the goals such as low
cost,low consumption and high automation.
 Drawback:- In this paper, CC2530 microcontroller is used. It holds 12bit ADC

 Description:-This paper develops a wireless ordering system, which combines embedded and
WIFI wireless communication technology.
 Drawback:- In this paper, Wi-Fi module is used for communication. Its covering range is small . It
will be better to replace zigbee module for transmission.

which customers specify what they want to the waiter who takes the order on a paper.
 self service:-self service or self ordering system in restaurants refer to the restaurants taking
order from customers using technologies such as the internet and many others.usually the user
prefer self service because of speed and convenience in making order and minimizing the
miscommunication.

DESCRIPTION:-

 The Zigbee based wireless ordering system starts working from displaying the menu items
available in the restaurant on LCD connected to Atmega328 microcontroller at every table in the
restaurant.

 The users can choose any of the items by simply press the numerical key in keypad. Hence the
input is given in keypad. The corresponding instructions about the selected item to the
Atmega328.

 The Atmega328 will process the item details and add the table number to the data send it to
the order/billing section through Zigbee device.

 The billing order section will get the items along with the table number on PC with a buzzer
sound to alert the attender at a particular place.

 When the attender receives the order the bill will be automatically generated and displayed in
the LCD to the customer and to the cashier.

ADVANTAGES:-

 This project will manage time consuming for the customers who waiting for food after order.

 Either excess amount or less amount will not collected from the customer.

 This is easy to manage a hotel.
APPLICATION:-

 This application will be used in future smart restaurant.

 Even though used in smart mess hall.

 No need of waiter for taking order from the table.

 This is applicable in future function hall.

Conclusion:-

 By the realization of the above proposed system one can learn many aspects of digital electronic
circuits.

 This will a complete knowledge of designing microcontroller based system and developing
embedded system.
