Step 1

(1 + cotθ + tanθ)(sinθ - cosθ)

We have been asked to simplify the .

sec3θ - cosec 3θ

Step 2

cosθ sinθ

(1 + cotθ + tanθ)(sinθ - cosθ) (1 + + )(sinθ - cosθ)

= sinθ cosθ ) [Since,

(1 + cotθ + tanθ)(sinθ - cosθ)

Therefore, is equal to the sin2θ cos 2θ.

(10) 1

Step 1

It is given that

2sinθ – cosθ = 2

⇒ (2sinθ – cosθ)2 = 22 ....... [On squaring both sides]

Step 2

⇒ (2sinθ – cosθ)2 + (sinθ + 2cosθ)2 = 22 + (sinθ + 2cosθ)2

⇒ 4sin2θ + cos 2θ - 4sinθcosθ + sin 2θ + 4cos 2θ + 4sinθcosθ = 4 + (sinθ + 2cosθ) 2

⇒ 5sin2θ + 5cos 2θ + 4sinθcosθ - 4sinθcosθ = 4 + (sinθ + 2cosθ) 2

⇒ 5(sin2θ + cos 2θ) = 4 + (sinθ + 2cosθ) 2

⇒ 5 = 4 + (sinθ + 2cosθ) 2

⇒ (sinθ + 2cosθ)2 = 5 - 4

⇒ (sinθ + 2cosθ)2 = 1

⇒ sinθ + 2cosθ = ± 1

Step 3

Since 2sinθ – cosθ=2, ignore the negative value.

Therefore, sinθ + 2cosθ = 1

(11) 23

Step 1

tan θ + cot θ = 5

Step 2

On squaring both sides,

(tan θ + cot θ) 2 = 52

Step 3

Step 4

tan2θ + cot 2θ + 2 = 25

Step 5

tan2θ + cot 2θ = 25 - 2 = 23

Step 1

We need to find following product

S = (1 + cotθ + cosecθ) (1 + tanθ - secθ)

Step 2

On multiplying each terms

⇒ S = 1 (1 + tanθ - secθ) + cotθ (1 + tanθ - secθ) + cosecθ (1 + tanθ - secθ)

⇒ S = (1 + tanθ - secθ) + (cotθ + cotθ tanθ - cotθ secθ ) + (cosecθ + cosecθ tanθ - cosecθ secθ)

Step 3

Using identities cotθ tanθ = 1, cotθ secθ = cosecθ and cosecθ tanθ = secθ

⇒ S = (1 + tanθ - secθ) + (cotθ + 1 - cosecθ ) + (cosecθ + secθ - cosecθ secθ)

Step 4

Now positive cosecθ and secθ will cancel each other

⇒ S = (1 + tanθ - secθ) + (cotθ + 1 - cosecθ ) + (cosecθ + secθ - cosecθ secθ)

⇒ S = 2 + tanθ + cotθ - cosecθ secθ

Step 5

Using identities tanθ = sinθ/cosθ, and cotθ = cosθ/sinθ

sinθ cosθ

⇒S=2+ + - cosecθ secθ

cosθ sinθ

sin2θ + cos 2θ

⇒S=2+ - cosecθ secθ

⇒S=2+ - cosecθ secθ

sinθcosθ

⇒ S = 2 + cosecθ secθ - cosecθ secθ

⇒S=2
