“I know how much our schools value the work they

do in partnership with Nottingham Contemporary.
Engaging with art and artists gives students a chance
to express their ideas and ask questions in a new
environment. Teachers tell me this helps students
build their confidence, think critically and develop
their creative skills. Having seen this work first hand
I’ve been really impressed.”

from Farnborough Academy, Clifton.
Their remarkable work, celebrating the spirit
of Clifton was exhibited in our Space all
summer before moving to an exhibition at
the National Portrait Gallery on until February
2018. 4 iconic Nottingham faces are now part
of the Gallery’s permanent portrait Collection
thanks to this project.

“It has got me out meeting people as I am a bit of a

recluse. It’s got me talking, laughing and thinking.
I have never been involved with contemporary art
before. I have had fun working together with
the other women.”
