The Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park is pleased to announce it has been selected to host the American Society of Marine Artists’ prestigious exhibition of contemporary marine art – “Blue Water / Still Water.” We invite you to join us as we celebrate this rare and extraordinary exhibition with an opening VIP and General Reception and Gala on September 26, 2010 beginning at 5:30 p.m. With more than 500 members nationwide who are dedicated to marine art and maritime history, ASMA juried exhibitions are on display only once every three to four years. Anyone fascinated by art and the sea will want to take part in what will be a truly memorable and entertaining evening. “Blue Water / Still Water” brings together 52 of America’s most talented contemporary artists in the marine art field, recognized both nationally and internationally. Quiet shorelines, harbor views and seascapes featuring tumultuous, roaring seas are presented with luminous light and emotion. A wide array of mediums – oils, watercolors, pastels, scratchboard, pencil, sculpture and scrimshaw – will make this a most rewarding experience for viewers and collectors alike. The largest inland naval park in the country, the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park proudly stands as an inspiring tribute to all men and women who have served in the armed forces, especially Western New York veterans. This is the Park’s only major fundraiser for the year. All proceeds from the event will help preserve and maintain our historic collection, which each year attracts more than 50,000 visitors – locally and worldwide – to Buffalo’s waterfront. The VIP Reception begins at 5:30 p.m. on September 26. Tickets are $75 per person/$125 per couple and include a meet-and-greet with some of the artists and other dignitaries, admission to the General Reception, valet parking for the event, an open bar, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, your name listed in the program book, 3 guest passes per person to the Park and 2 individual Park memberships. The General Reception begins at 6:30 p.m. on September 26. Tickets are $30 per person/$50 per couple and include an open bar, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, your name listed in the program book, 1 guest pass per person to the Park and 1 individual Park membership. Be the first in Western New York to see this rare and extraordinary ASMA exhibition of marine art. Please contact the Park at 716-847-1773 or to purchase tickets. We’ll see you on September 26!
