LEAN SIX SIGMA – A DATA DRIVEN CUSTOMER-CENTERED

METHODOLOGY FOR PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
Motorola has a long legacy of Six Sigma: in 1986, Motorola employee Bill Smith proposed the concept (driving toward six standard
deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) as a way of standardizing defect measurement and improvement
within manufacturing. Since then, the methodology was extended into transactional, support, service and engineering functions,
and has been adopted by companies in all industries around the world. In 2008, Motorola further integrated Lean – the waste
elimination methodology – into the program and launched the Lean Six Sigma training and certification program. This new * Lean is an improvement
