LATI-036 Rev. 1.0 1

1. General Information
The proceeding programming steps documented follow the network configuration example
shown in section 1.2.

1.1. Hardware Configuration

Both Topaz systems are configured in the following way:
IP2AP-924M KSU (Topaz 924 Main Unit).
IP2WW-EXIFU-A1 (External Equipment Interface Card-A).
IP2WW-2OPBOX (Optional Interface Card Box).
IP1WW-4VOIPU-S1 (Voice over IP (VoIP) Card).

The IPS system is configured in the following way:

PN-8IPTA (SIP trunk card).
IPS-CCIS-B1 (LA) (software license for CCIS).
IPS-VOIP-B1 (LA) (software license for IP trunks).

1.2. Schematic Diagram

LATI-036 Rev. 1.0 2

1.3. System Conditions for Topaz
1.3.1. In order for the example to work as shown, main software needs to be 7 or above.
1.3.2. Up to 1000 destinations (IP addresses/alias addresses) can be assigned (PRG 10-23).
1.3.3. In order to make station-to-station calls across SIP, either open or closed numbering plan
can be used. The example implemented a closed numbering plan.
1.3.4. Calling number display is provided on station-to-station calls across the SIP trunks. PRG
14-01-24 of the SIP trunks needs to be left at default value (0) for the calling number display
function to work properly between Topaz and IPS.
1.3.5. Although name display is not provided across the SIP trunks, the name of a remote Topaz
or IPS station can be displayed by assigning all station numbers and names as abbreviated dialed
numbers in the local Topaz system.
1.3.6. If DISA or automated attendant with VRS service is implemented on the CO trunks,
outside callers can dial either local or remote stations.
1.3.7. Trunk-to-trunk connection (CO-SIP or SIP-CO) requires that the CO trunk provide
disconnect signal (momentary open). Software version 4 and above provides busy tone detection
in order to disconnect the CO trunks in case of trunk-to-trunk connection.
1.3.8. Direct trunk-to-trunk connection from an SIP trunk to a CO trunk is not provided. In order
for a station user to seize a CO trunk on the remote Topaz system, he has to dial a number on the
remote Topaz assigned to DISA. From that point the user can dial 9 + subscriber number.
1.3.9. If local station A calls remote station B, and remote station B transfers the call to local
station C, two SIP channels will be used (link reconnection is not provided).
1.3.10. The Topaz systems cannot run behind NAT/NAPT routers.
1.3.11. The Topaz systems cannot connect to a SIP carrier.
1.3.12. T.38 fax is not supported.

LATI-036 Rev. 1.0 3

1.4 System Conditions for IPS
1.4.1. In order for the example to work as shown, main software needs to be R13 or above.
1.4.2. In order to make station-to-station calls across SIP, either open or closed numbering plan
can be used. The example implemented a closed numbering plan.
1.4.3. Up to 32 channels can be used to interconnect IPS with Topaz systems (one PN-8IPTA
card plus one PZ-24IPLA daughter board).
1.4.4. Up to 255 destinations (IP addresses) can be assigned. This limit includes CCIS peer-to-
peer destinations, as they use the same command (CM 5B YY=01).
1.4.5. CIC numbers assigned to the SIP trunks must be unique in the system (do not repeat CIC
numbers assigned to CCIS trunks).
1.4.6. Calling number display is provided on station-to-station calls across the SIP trunks.
1.4.7. Name display is not provided at the IPS. Stations won’t be able to see the name of a Topaz
station user.
1.4.8. Call forwarding-outside (to CO, MFC, ISDN or CCIS trunks) is provided for all types of
forward (all calls, busy, don’t answer).
1.4.9. If automated attendant is assigned in the IPS, callers can dial either IPS stations or Topaz
stations (using the proper DID number). Assign CM 3597 with data 11 to the incoming CO route.
1.4.10. Trunk-to-trunk connection between an analog CO route and the SIP route to the Topaz is
provided. Direct in termination-outside programming will be required.
1.4.11. Trunk-to-trunk connection between an MFC or ISDN route and the SIP route to the
Topaz is provided. DID calls entering the IPS are routed directly to the Topaz DID numbers.
1.4.12. Trunk-to-trunk connection between a CCIS route and the SIP route to the Topaz is
provided. DID calls entering the IPS are routed directly to the Topaz DID numbers.
1.4.13. Trunk-to-trunk connection between the Topaz and a CO, MFC, ISDN or CCIS route is
provided, but in case of MFC, ISDN or CCIS, station user won’t be able to distinguish between a
busy subscriber and a wrong number, as Topaz will always give busy tone. The alternative is to
use remote access to system as described in section 5.4.
1.4.14. If Topaz station A calls IPS station B, and IPS station B transfers the call to Topaz station
C, two SIP channels will be used (link reconnection is not provided).
1.4.15. The IPS systems cannot run behind NAT/NAPT routers.
1.4.16. If the customer wants to connect to a SIP carrier, a separate PN-8IPTA (SIP trunk card)
must be used.

LATI-036 Rev. 1.0 4

1.5. Calling number display/Caller ID/ANI considerations
(Topaz-to-Topaz)
1.5.1. When a Topaz station calls across SIP to another Topaz station, calling number displayed
at the destination station’s display is the value assigned in PRG 21-19-01.
1.5.2. If a station of the local Topaz is forwarded to a station of the remote Topaz, the calling
number displayed at the destination station’s display is either PRG 21-19-01 of the originating
station if the call is originated in the Topaz or PRG 21-17-01 or the originating SIP trunk if the
call is not.
1.5.3. If a station of the remote Topaz calls a station of the local Topaz which is forwarded to an
MFC trunk, the ANI reported for that call is the value assigned in PRG 21-13-01 to the
forwarding station.
1.5.4. When DISA is used to seize an MFC trunk from the remote Topaz system, the ANI
reported for that call is the value assigned in PRG 21-12-01 to the MFC trunk.
1.5.5. An incoming call from a CO trunk with Caller ID or an MFC trunk with ANI in the Topaz
through DISA or DID with VRS which is directed to a remote Topaz station does not show the
Caller ID/ANI of the calling party on the called station’s display; PRG 21-17-01 of the
transferring SIP trunk is shown instead. In other words, ANI is not being transferred (see also
condition 1.3.4).
(Topaz-to-IPS with external trunks in the Topaz)
1.5.6. When a Topaz station calls across SIP to an IPS station, calling number displayed at the
destination station’s display is the value assigned in PRG 21-19-01.
1.5.7. If a station of the Topaz is forwarded to a station of the IPS, the calling number displayed
at the destination station’s display is either PRG 21-19-01 of the originating station if the call is
originated in the Topaz or PRG 21-17-01 of the SIP trunk if the call is not, or if it is coming from
a CO/MFC trunk.
1.5.8. If a station of the IPS calls a station of the Topaz which is forwarded to an MFC trunk, the
ANI reported for that call is the value assigned in PRG 21-13-01 to forwarding station.
1.5.9. When DISA is used to seize an MFC trunk from the remote Topaz system, the ANI
reported for that call is the value assigned in PRG 21-12-01 to the MFC trunk.
1.5.10. An incoming call from a CO trunk with Caller ID or an MFC trunk with ANI in the
Topaz through DISA or DID with VRS which is directed to a remote Topaz station does not
show the Caller ID/ANI of the calling party on the called station’s display; either PRG 21-17-01
of the SIP trunk is shown instead. In other words, ANI is not being transferred (see condition
1.3.4).
1.5.11. The assignment of PRG 21-19-01, PRG 21-17-01 and PRG 10-28-04 is critical to the
proper SIP dialog between the Topaz and IPS. The numeric values assigned to those commands
must match the LCR numbering plan assigned in the IPS to reach the Topaz stations through
their DID numbers.

LATI-036 Rev. 1.0 5

(IPS-to-Topaz with external trunks in the IPS)
1.5.12. When an IPS station calls across SIP to a Topaz station, calling number displayed at the
destination station’s display is the IPS station number (considering the programming described in
section 5.3).
1.5.13. If a station of the IPS is forwarded to a station of the Topaz, the calling number displayed
at the destination station’s display is either the forwarding IPS station number if the call is
originated in the IPS or Topaz, or the subscriber's ANI if the call is coming from a
CO/MFC/ISDN trunk.
1.5.14. If a station of the IPS is forwarded to a station of the Topaz, the calling number displayed
at the destination station’s display is either the subscriber’s ANI if the call is coming from a
CCIS trunk from another IPS (centralized E911-CCIS programming necessary), or none if the
call is coming from a CCIS trunk from an IPX.
1.5.15. If a station of the Topaz calls a station of the IPS which is forwarded to an
MFC/ISDN/CCIS trunk, the ANI reported for that call is the value assigned in PRG 21-19-01 to
the Topaz station. In other words, ANI is being transferred.
1.5.16. On tandem SIP to MFC, SIP to ISDN or SIP to CCIS, the ANI reported for that call is
PRG 21-19-01 of the Topaz station.
1.5.17. An incoming call from a CO trunk with Caller ID/MFC trunk with ANI/ISDN with CID
directed to a Topaz station shows the subscriber's ANI.
1.5.18. An incoming call from a CCIS trunk in the IPS directed to a Topaz station shows either
the subscriber's ANI if the call is coming from a CCIS trunk from another IPS (centralized E911-
CCIS programming necessary), or none if the call is coming from a CCIS trunk from an IPX.
