M
any of you may know Kim Clement, who is well known for the intensity of
his devotions and his unique musical skills. However, what you may
not know is that God confronted him about his erroneous teachings
in eschatology. What is amazing is his openness in acknowledging
it and his candid concern for his people and following. His wife Jane
undertook a diligent research among available materials with astonishing
thoroughness and reviewed virtually everything that K-House
had published.
They openly requested our help to correct and repair their previous
errors. We spent a week in his studios recording comprehensive reviews of
the major eschatological topics.
Their candour and commitment was refreshing and astonishing.
Our mutual technical teams bonded immediately. As we witnessed his
depth of character and personal commitment to his following and family,
we were profoundly moved by their transparency, their sincerity, and their
love: unmatched in our six decades of Christian ministry!
In accordance with Polonius’ advice to Laertes, “…their adoption tried,
we have grappled them to our soul with hoops of steel.” There will be those
who may quip from the comfort of the side lines--with some discomfort
from previous allusions—but they should exercise caution: we now regard
Kim and Jane as “family.”
As with many of our other friends (Hal Lindsey, Tom Horn,
Bob Cornuke, Bill Salas, and L.A. Marzulli, et al), we have adopted a
policy first attributed to Augustine: “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials,
liberty; but in all things, Agapè”.
As part of our ongoing commitment, we anticipate greater
opportunities for K-House to provide resources, guidance, and encourage
individuals, small groups, churches and other ministries to take the Bible
seriously... Turning Believers into Bereans (Acts 17:11).
Please continue to pray for all of us: it is a warfare, after all.

• Are the gifts of the Spirit for today?
• Do all Christians have spiritual gifts?

People love titles. Titles tend to imply an

exalted position or status. There can be great persuasive power
associated with someone’s name that is followed by PhD1, CEO2,
CKD3, or whatever. We have all become accustomed to showing
partiality to those whom the world has granted some kind of a title.
Sadly, the Church has, in some instances, fallen into this practice
of title worship. When Paul wrote about the gifts Jesus gave to the
Church, he listed five areas of service that should “edify the Body

of Christ.”4 Sadly, many people aspire for the title rather than the task
of these ministry gifts. As a result we no longer simply address each
other as equals in the Body of Christ. Instead, many add the title of
Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor (bishop), or Teacher. We even
add prefixes to these titles like Assistant, Associate, etc. which are all
terms used in the academic world to add a further air of hierarchy to
the title. Clearly, the Bible does not promote this kind of conduct.
Jesus warned that we are not to be respecters of people because of
their publicly declared status. In Matthew’s Gospel Jesus said,
“The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore whatever
they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according
to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy
burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they
themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their
works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad
and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at
feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces,
and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’ But you, do not be called
‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren.
Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father,
He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your
Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your
servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who
humbles himself will be exalted.”5 In this rebuke, Jesus simply points
out that these leaders loved the title more than the task.
John experienced difficulty with an individual who tried to use his
perceived position of leadership to oppose John’s teaching. “I wrote
to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the pre-eminence
among them, does not receive us.”6 It is interesting to note that the
name Diotrephes comes from two Greek root words which mean
“nourished by Zeus.” As many of you may know, Zeus is the Roman
God-of-gods which should give us a hint to the source of this
man’s nourishment.

Jesus addressed a similar problem within some of the Churches

in Asia Minor. He identified those He called the “Nicolaitans.”
This term comes from two Greek root words which can mean
“victory over the people.” Twice in the Book of Revelation, Jesus
speaks of His hated of the “deeds of the Nicolaitans” 7 and “doctrine
of the Nicolaitans.” 8 From the fourth century onward the Church has
been generally divided into the clergy and the laity. This schism was
brought in by the introduction of pagan practices which separates the
people from the direct access with their God.
The Gold of Gideon
In the Book of Judges we read the exploits of Gideon. Gideon
had started great. In response to the call of God Gideon replies,
“Oh my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in
Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”9 He had a passion
for the people of God. We are all familiar with his mighty victory
over the Midianites because of his obedience to God. But watch what
happens after the victory. “Then the men of Israel said to Gideon,
‘Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you
have delivered us from the hand of Midian.’”10
They wanted a King. Not only did they want Gideon to
“rule over them” they wanted to establish a dynasty. Rather than
remain as he had started, Gideon allowed the people to bless him.
“They spread out a garment, and each man threw into it the earrings
from his plunder. Now the weight of the gold earrings that he
requested was one thousand seven hundred shekels of gold, besides
the crescent ornaments, pendants, and purple robes which were on
the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that were around their
camels’ necks. Then Gideon made it into an ephod and set it up in his
city, Ophrah. And all Israel played the harlot with it there. It became
a snare to Gideon and to his house.”11
Gideon’s mishandling of God’s victory became a “snare” to him
…and to his house. How? Prestige, property and power always

seems to be an Achilles Heel for many ministers over the years.

The problems really escalated with one of Gideon’s sons named
Abimelech. Interesting that the name Abimelech means “my father
is king.” It is also the title given to the king of the Philistines
(Israel’s arch enemy). Abimelech carries out a classic corporate
consolidation of power, killing off the competition and establishing
fear in the hearts of anyone who would oppose him.12
The Right Response to Responsibility
Paul was a man who used many titles throughout his ministry
carrier. He used the title of “apostle” in his two Corinthian letters,
the two letters to Timothy, and the letters to the Galatians, Ephesians,
and Colossians. In these instances, Paul wanted the readers to
understand that he was speaking from a position of authority.
To the Romans, the Philippians, and Titus, Paul uses the title of
“bondservant” in order for the readers to understand that his ultimate
duty was to his master Jesus Christ. To Philemon, Paul used the title
“prisoner of Christ” because he was writing on behalf of the runaway
slave Onesimus.
If there was ever a man who deserved a big title, it is Paul.
After all, he wrote more than half the New Testament. At the height
of Paul’s ministry he said, “I am the least of the apostles, who am not
worthy to be called an apostle.”13 At the end of his ministry he said,
“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ
Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”14
I guess that is what 30 years of ministry will do to you.
In his first letter to the Corinthian Church, Paul gives us some
insight into his heart of service. He proclaims, “Let a man so consider
us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”15
The Greek word Paul used that we translate as servants is huperetes.
It is literally translated as “under rowers.” In other words, the servant
in the bottom of the ship. The Corinthians were familiar with the

duties of the under rower as they were nearby a major Roman

port city.
There were five aspects of the work of the huperetes that Paul and
his companions could identify with when they referred to themselves
as “servants” of Christ:
• First, the galley slave rowed “to the captain’s beat”.
• Second, the slaves had to row together.
• Third, they had to trust the captain.
• Fourth, they were committed for life.
• Finally, they received no honor. Only the captain of the vessel was
visible to the outer world.
Therefore, may we all commit ourselves to serving without being
seen so that all of the glory goes to the only one to whom it belongs;
Jesus Christ, the only One worthy of our praise.

The Ultimate Masterpiece: The White Horse of Revelation 6

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard,
as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying,
Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that
sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he
went forth conquering, and to conquer.
Revelation 6:1-2 KJV

What is surprising is how many Bible expositors find themselves

misled on one of the most dangerous “mistaken identities” of all.1
The first world dictator was Nimrod, “a mighty hunter,” whose
Hebrew name means “let us rebel,” given by his contemporaries to
one who ever had in his mouth such words to stir up his band to
rebellion. The final world dictator seeking global domination will
also be an “Assyrian”2 who is here characterized by holding a bow
and riding a white horse. It is interesting how many confuse this
counterfeit with the rider of the white horse in Revelation 19.
In chapter 6, however, this rider is among some very bad company!3
1 The “2nd most dangerous” since we felt that the most dangerous mistaken identity of all is what led to our

The Law of First Mention
Biblical observers have noticed that the first mention of a concept
in the Bible appears to be especially significant. The first mention of
“love” in the Bible occurs in Genesis 22, the pre-enactment of the
greatest act of love in the history of the universe.4
The first mention of a “bow” is as a “token of a covenant.”5
Here, however, the subsequent violation of a covenant is among
the most critical events in Biblical eschatology. In His confidential
briefing on the end-times,6 Jesus even draws on an historical allusion
to describe the forthcoming events, including what will be the
defining event establishing the “70th week of Daniel,”7 and the
subsequent breaking of the covenant which will lead to the “great
tribulation”.8

7-year covenant with Israel.11 It is the mid-term abrogation of that

There are many diverse anticipations concerning the Coming World Leader,
commonly referred to as “The Antichrist.” This study will explore the Biblical
descriptions with the specific expectations of the globalists, Islam, the
Vatican, Freemasonry amongst others.

• Will he be a Nephilim?
• Why is the Vatican openly preparing to receive an “alien” visitor?
• Will he be a resurrection of Nimrod? Is his DNA a factor?
• What are the expectations of transhumanist technologists in this regard?
• Is there a climactic cosmic deception being prepared that, if it were
possible, “it would deceive the very elect”? Jesus commanded us, “Be
not deceived.” But, how?
• How close are these events to our current horizon?

SPIRITUAL WARFARE
Founder, King’s High Way

Over the last two years, as most of you are aware, Nancy has been
battling malignant melanoma in the mucous membrane of her nose.
In January of this year, she began a second round of treatments of a
new FDA approved chemotherapy called “Keytruda”. Nancy sends
her love and wants me to thank each and everyone of you for all your
prayers for her, Chuck and the family during this difficult time.
In order for Nan to have some time to recuperate, I brought back
an article that she wrote in 2005 about worship and spiritual warfare.
Trust seems to be the word that I personally am asking myself
when I’m in the midst of difficult life circumstances. Do I trust Him
when I am being tested, proved, stretched and enlarged in my faith?
As I’ve matured in my walk with the Lord, I’ve learned that it’s
only when I spend time worshiping, praying and meditating on
His Word that those difficulties become powerless. His faith increases
in me so that I might declare His power (Dunamis) in the face of
my problems.
No wonder the enemy does everything he can to keep us from
spending private time with the Lord—because that’s when we
get encouraged, strengthened, renewed, restored and filled with
God’s Love.
Understanding the relevance of this message is vital for the day
and hour that we are privileged to live in. I pray this article which was
taken out of her book Private Worship will inspire you in your personal
journey with the Lord this year.

Jesus warns us in John 16:2, “They will put you out of the
synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think
that he offers God service. And these things they will do to you
because they have not known the Father nor Me.”
Why is it that when we decide to surrender everything to the
Lord, we automatically become huge targets? When we become
worshipers, it’s almost as if we develop a great big bull’s eye on our
chest that says, “I love God, shoot me!” The reason this happens is
that our mortal enemy not only hates God, he also hates anyone who
wants to follow Him. If we are lukewarm, he won’t bother with us,
but watch out if we become “hot,” we’ll become immediate
“pot shots.” Satan will do anything he can to thwart God’s plans
in us and through us, even sending out “angels of light.”

We fight by surrendering more! spiritual warfare.
Yes, you read that correctly.
We learn to fight the enemy by surrendering ourselves more -
not to him, but to the Lord.
Look at Moses. Moses endured such horrendous chiding,
testing and humiliation. How did he handle this? What did he
do? He withstood the enemy by not letting doubt, unbelief, fear,
insecurity, bitterness, guilt, etc. consume him, but instead he
chose to surrender everything to the Lord and trusted Him even
more. During his difficult trials, Moses shut himself up on that
mountaintop, prayed, worshiped and looked only to the Lord for His
wisdom (Exodus 5:22-6:7; 19:3-25; 33:12-22). In the end, because of
Moses’ complete obedience to the Lord’s will, the enemy was defeated
and he was able to lead a nation to freedom.

Another example is Stephen who, even as the Israelites were

stoning him, looked, prayed and called upon the Lord. Acts 6:15
explains, “...all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw
his face as it had been the face of an angel.” See also Acts 7:59. Again,
how did Stephen do this? He did it by having such unshakable faith
and reliance in the Lord that he was able to “see” Him in the midst of
the fire. Just like Moses, he “endured, as seeing Him who is invisible,”
(Hebrews 11:27).
A further example was the miracle of Job, who in spite of his
incredible difficulties continued to cry out, “Though You slay me,
yet will I trust You,” (Job 13:15). And finally, there was Paul who,
at times, felt lost, confused and bewildered because of the rejection,
mockery, malicious gossip and persecutions that he experienced. He
even came to a point of “despairing of life itself,” (2 Corinthians 1:8).
But the way Paul handled these things was not to give in to defeat
but to believe and act out 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “We are troubled on
every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always
bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, [so] that the life
also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”
All these renowned men not only endured huge trials in
their lives, but conquered them. And they did so by surrendering
themselves even further to the Lord and recognizing the enemy’s
involvement. As a result, they were enabled to go on, filled with an
inner peace that God’s will was being accomplished.

One of the reasons One of the reasons God allows

God allows hard hard times in our lives is to strengthen
times in our lives is to our faith. (See our book Faith in the
strengthen our faith. Night Seasons.) He arranges difficult
situations so that we can see for
ourselves how very weak our faith is. Remember in Deuteronomy 8:2,
God reprimanded the Israelites, telling them that He had tested them
so that they might see for themselves their own hearts and their own
unbelief. God is constantly doing the same with us - testing, proving,

stretching and enlarging our faith, because our faith is the foundation
of our walk. Faith is what our worship is built upon.
It’s also true that if our faith is weak, we won’t be able to stand
against the enemy of our souls. If our faith is strong, then there’s no
end to what God can do through us.
If we are not being “stretched,” then we’re not really growing at
all! Real faith is made up of a series of choices - choices to cleanse
our hearts of all sin and self; choices to trust God regardless of our
circumstances; choices to rely upon His ability to implement His will
in our lives. These are the same kinds of faith choices that Moses,
Stephen, Job and Paul had to face in their situations. At the time,
they certainly didn’t “feel like” making these choices, but they knew
that their lives depended upon it, so “by faith” they made them
anyway. These are the same kinds of faith choices that we must make
in order to have peace and joy in the middle of our trials.
Then we too can be troubled, perplexed, persecuted and cast down,
but not distressed, in despair, forsaken or destroyed, (2 Corinthians 4:8-9).
God tells us in 2 Chronicles 20:15 that “the battle is not ours, but
the Lord’s.” We must continually remember this. Otherwise, we’ll end
up confused and afraid.
Do you recall the story of Elijah, the great Old Testament prophet
of God?
1 Kings 18 tells the story of a severe drought. In the third year of
the drought, the Lord said to Elijah, “Go and present yourself to King
Ahab and tell him I will soon send rain.” Elijah did as he was told and
asked the king to bring all the people of Israel to Mt.Carmel, along
with 450 prophets of Baal and 400 priests of Ashorah, who were
supported by Jezebel, the king’s wife. Elijah wanted to prove to them
who the true God was, saying: “If the Lord be God, follow Him; but
if Baal, then follow him,” (1 Kings 18:21). What happened next was
that the pagan priests and prophets danced, wailed and cried all night
long for their god to show his strength, but nothing happened.

Then Elijah got up, called on the Name of the Lord and “fire
immediately came down from heaven and consumed his offering”
(1 Kings 18:38).
Elijah then slew the false prophets and was given supernatural
strength to out run King Ahab’s chariot back to the city. As Scripture
puts it, “The hand of the Lord was [mightily] upon Elijah.”
(1 Kings 18:46) But when King Ahab told his wife Jezebel all that
Elijah had done, she was furious and sent a message back to the
prophet, threatening his life. This letter made Elijah deathly afraid
and he fled for his life. In the letter, Jezebel spoke just like an enemy,
“You’ve had it; you’ve gone too far. The battle is now between you and
me,” (1 Kings 19:2).
The interesting part about this statement is that it really was the
truth! The battle on Mount Carmel was not between Elijah and the
prophets of Baal, but between good and evil, the Lord and the devil.
It was a battle between the powers of darkness and God’s body of
believers (“light bearers”) here on earth. Queen Jezebel represented
Satan and his demonic hordes as his tool to bring disorder, confusion
and turmoil. Elijah represented the Lord and His believers.
As a result of that vicious threat from Jezebel, Elijah (filled with
fear) sat down outside the city gates and wailed to himself, “Only I
am left. All the others have been slain and now they seek my life,”
(1 Kings 19:10). He accused the Lord by saying, “God, you let the
devil get to me. You let him harass me. You let him take away my joy.
I don’t deserve such treatment. I have done everything you told me
to do.”
This is the mighty prophet of God who just slew 750 prophets of
Baal! Can you believe it? Is it any wonder then, that we too have our
down days when the enemy’s taunts consume us? As a result of Elijah’s
self-consumed thinking, he panicked, feared for his life, became
depressed and eventually prayed to die (1 Kings 19:4).
I want you to really think about this story, because this is exactly
what’s happening to many believers today. Jezebel represents the

the end-time Church of Thyatira, “... I know thy works, and charity,
and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last
to be more than the first. Notwithstanding I have a few things against
thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a
prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants...”
I believe Jezebel represents a seducing spirit that is at work among
worshipers in these end times who desires to break our will and our
spirit. Her goal is to rob us of our desire to serve the Lord and to
quench our hope in God’s faithfulness. If the spirit of Jezebel can
make us think that God’s Word is not true and that He is not faithful
to perform what His promises, then our relationship with Him will
immediately collapse. If the spirit of Jezebel can undermine our
confidence in the Lord, she has us. The truth is, the Lord values
His Word even above His Name. Thus, if He promises something
in His Word, He will perform it no matter what.

Psalm 138:2 validates this: “I will worship toward Thy holy

temple, and praise Thy Name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy
truth: for Thou hast magnified Thy Word above all Thy Name.”
Jezebel wants to sidetrack us: from worshiping to worrying;
from being on fire for the Lord to being lukewarm; from loving Him
to doubting Him. She wants us caught up in the “Oh, poor me”
syndrome, filled with self-pity and spiraling straight down into
the pit.
When we begin to truly worship - entering His presence daily,
vocally sharing our faith and acting as Christ would have us - then
watch out! The spirit of Jezebel will use our loved ones, our friends
and any situations she can create (lies, fears, depression or confusion)
to take control of our lives.
Now when I say “take control” however I don’t mean “possession.”
If we are born again, then our heart and our spirit already belong to
the Lord. If we give the enemy “entrances” into our soul by doubt,
unbelief or confusion, she will use them to her full advantage. If the
spirit of Jezebel did it with Elijah then she will do it with us.
It’s one thing to stand up for Christ with our friends, our family
and our co-workers, it’s quite another to stand up against the forces
of darkness.
Whether we admit it or not, we are in an intense battle. God
knows that if we are not “battle-ready,” He can’t commission us into
the heavy artillery (Jeremiah 12:5). He knows that if we are wearied
in any way by the enemy, we’ll never make it through the really tough
times ahead. We have no other choice, either we learn to fight as God
desires or we’ll end up like Elijah, cowering in a corner.
Knowing our authority in Christ and how to fight the demonic
in the spiritual realm is of utmost importance and must go alongside
our learning to privately worship the Lord on a deeper and more
intimate basis.

Contrary to the “cheap grace” and Sunday attendance that many

us what Jesus actually said, “Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires

But the Bible doesn’t end with the four Gospels. Jesus told the
Apostles that more needed to be said, saying: “I have yet many things
to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the
Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not
speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he
will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of
mine, and shall shew it unto you.”7
Due to the apostles’ inability to receive all the truth at that time,
Jesus left it up to the Holy Spirit to complete the work of guiding
them into all the truth. Therefore, to truly find His Will for us today,
we must find His Way in the book of Acts and the Epistles and the
rarely preached on book of Revelation.
Only ten days after Jesus ascended into heaven, “[The disciples]
were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.”8 The Comforter9, the Holy Spirit,
had arrived. From here on we see the hand of the Holy Spirit guiding
the followers of the Way through the next half century or so.
In some cases, we are shown additional words of Jesus that we did
not receive through the Gospels; in others, the Holy Spirit guided
the words and writings of the apostles and their amanuenses into all
truth, as if spoken by Jesus Himself.

you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all

Liberal scholarship disputes the traditional authorship,
inspiration and dating of many of the New Testament books.
Consistent with their negative view of the Bible, they also tend to
portray the development of the canon17 as complex and lengthy
(Figure 1). Yet some 5,686 existing Greek manuscripts18 date to
within 100 years of the time of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
There are also some 19,000 copies in other contemporary languages
including Syriac, Latin, Coptic, and Aramaic.
The evidence shows that all New Testament documents were
complete when John completed his final book prior to A.D. 100.
Early letters19 show familiarity with the synoptic Gospels and some
of Paul’s Epistles.20 One such letter was from Ignatian to Polycarp of
Smyrna (c.80-155), said to be a fellow disciple of the Apostle John in
Ephesus, the wealthy capital of the Roman Province of Asia, where
Paul preached during his second missionary journey and ministered
for over two years during his third.
What are the requirements for New Testament canonicity?
Both Catholic and Protestant traditions recognize four conditions:
• Apostolic Origin — attributed to and based upon the original
apostles including Jesus’ half-brothers James and Jude or
their amanuenses
• Universal Acceptance — acknowledged by all major Christian
communities in the ancient world
• Liturgical Use — read publicly where early Christian
communities gathered
• Consistent Message — containing a theological outlook similar
to or complementary to other accepted Christian writings.21

Why should the New Testament canon have taken until 1965
or 1546 or even 367 to be established? After all, the text itself gives
evidence that apostolic letters were shared among assemblies in
different cities.22
The Bible also illustrates the closeness of First Century Christians.
After persecution in Jerusalem23, many believers fled abroad preaching
the Word.24 Antioch of Syria became a missionary headquarters.25
The Council of Jerusalem26 commissioned Paul and Silas to spread the
Good News to the Gentiles. The Way spread from Judea throughout
the Roman world during the First Century A.D., carried by the
Apostles, evangelists such as Barnabas and Philip and Priscilla and
Aquila, the outer group of seventy27 and many of the thousands who
witnessed Pentecost.28
Is it possible that God chose the youngest of the Twelve, John,
to validate and close the New Testament Canon from his central
location in Ephesus before he died? There is, after all, as much
evidence of that as there is for the critical theories of modern scholars
about the Bible’s authorship and veracity.29
The past hundred-plus years has seen an explosion of different
Bible translations and versions in English and Spanish. Translating
and selling new versions of the Bible has become a lucrative business.
Yet the proliferation of Bibles that may differ on key theological
points has tended to undermine the principle of sola Scriptura upon
which the Protestant Reformations were based. Practically every one
of the 150 or so new English versions since 1881 tracks more closely
with the Catholic Bible than with the Luther (German), Tyndale,
Geneva and King James Versions that revolutionized Christianity
nearly 500 years ago.

not been disproved by inconvenient facts arising from modern era archaeological finds.

Does it matter which version we use?

While the answer is beyond the scope of this essay, the version
used must matter. Dr. Missler’s 2005 recording entitled “How We
Got Our Bible” in the Koinonia Institute’s BTE501 Hermeneutics
course and Ron Matsen’s 2013 DVD entitled “Defending the Bible”
are recommended for further study. There are also many other
excellent references available as well.
Dr. Missler is fond of answering questions about which Bible
version is best by wryly noting, “The one that you will read.”
Despite nearly 2,000 years of continuing attacks against the
New Testament’s authority starting with the attacks by the Gnostic in
AD 5530, “We have in our hands, in substantial integrity, the veritable
word of God.”31
God can speak to us through any version of His Word. Make no
mistake, though, while most versions are appropriate for general
reading or worship, only a few are suitably accurate for serious
study. You are strongly encouraged to do your own research to select
a study Bible.
Let us briefly return to the question posed in Part 1: are you a
believer in Christ or a follower of Christ?32 We only find Jesus when
we follow Him in true obedience! Jesus noted:
• “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”33
• “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father
will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home
with him.”34
When we keep His Word, Jesus and His Father will abide in us,
and we will truly have found the Way!

“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His

commandments. He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever
keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this
we know that we are in Him.”35
Before we can keep His Word, we must know and understand it.
And we can only know God’s Word through Bible study.
The final part of this article on Putting Faith into Practice will
focus on our individual role and duty in an increasingly secular and
ungodly culture. What does the Bible say about how we should live in
times like these? Taken together, this series is intended to de-mystify
modern Christianity for Bible-believing followers of Christ.

and His Mission

Bible scholars Dr. Chuck Missler and Dr. William
Welty bring Jesus of Nazareth to you in the most
unconventional way possible… by bringing Jesus
of Nazareth to talk in His very own words about
Himself, His purpose, His nature, and His mission.
