Industrial Revolution and its impact in United State

Industrial revolution is marked the by invention of machines and automation of industrial

processes that began roughly around 1760 . This was marked by the aide of machines in

production of processes taking over from the tradition crafting by hand and mass production of

industrial products within a short period of time. At the commence of industrial revolution

businesses shifted from home to factories because of mass production and invention of transport

and communication systems. The milestone in industrial revolution in USA was achieved in 18th

century .By this time several production processes in the factories were being automated due to

invention in that era and the reality of abandoning the tradition methods of production had hit

every entity in the industry. As a result there was increase in production and as well as

improvement of the quality of goods. The variety of goods were availed to consumers and

competition led to more invention. Subsequently employment opportunities increased due to

demand of for workforce to assist machine in the mass production of commercial goods.

Among the early in invention at the golden error of industrial revolution is the Bessemer

Process. This can be considered one of the earliest cost friendly industrial processes that was

invented for the purpose of steel production. The process was for mass production of steel

through furnace with open hearth. In this case the speed removal of impunities was guaranteed

and mass production of steel was achieved. The subsequent modern processes were named

aftere the initial invention of this process. The impact of this process is that it helped achieve the

mass production of iron and create employment for the unemployed as the demand for iron

increased .Correspondingly, the mention of this process cannot go without implication of

Andrew Carnegie as he was instrumental in the expansion of steel industry. In the 19th century

Andrew was among the richest people and he and a philanthropist across the British empire and

USA at large. A part from his success in expanding the still industry Andrew is famously

remembered for his selfless contribution to charity just from the wealth he acquired from the still

industry. In this view the industrial revolution led to emergence of other acts of kindness with

people like Andrew since they had enough and willing to share. The undisputed fact is that the

expansion of steel industry created employment for many people and hence emergence of social

classes.

Industrial revolution led to emergence of other business ideas and consequentially

breeding a class of individuals who were know for viable business ideas and success in the field

of business. One of such such ideas was the overly used term Captain of the industry. The

contain of the industry had prowess in navigating business deals with enormous profits and they

ultimately used their fortunes in positively impacting the society by either creating more

employment, increasing mass production of of scanty goods or still give back to the society by

way of being philanthropic. This is the class where the philanthropist and successful entrepreneur

would be categorized .This concept was totally different from robber barons aterm that was used

to define the achievement of personal gains by virtue of political ideas which was devised by

business leaders

In the face of industrial revolution survival for the fittest wa eminent as one had to be fit

either mentally or physically depending with the area of interest. This is theorized by Social

Darwinianism. The industrial revolution led to stratification of people according social classes by

merit of individuals capabilities. This justified capitalism and political consertism as the poor

were considered not fit and hence needed the support the fit members of the society. The same

theory was applied by philanthropists. However Social Darwinianism faced its death remarkably

in 20th century due to acquisition and expansion of knowledge that negates its effectiveness and

and disregarded the perception that success correlates strength and weakness but not the thinking

capacity of an individual as was being advanced by rationalization of philosophy.

The existence of industrial Revolution had numerous impacts to the society such as

urbanization, nationalism and imperialism and inevitable changed they traditional aspects of life

to what is considered modern lifestyle. Before its emergence life revolved around agriculture ;

the recognized social classes were the working class and the noble class. The unemployed got

employed in the factories and it also led to emergence of other business opportunities to fill the

gaps that were left by industrial revolution. Conversely it came with other social ills such as

increase in crime rate and other vices like prostitution. At the same time the perception that jobs

were online available in plenty in urban centers led to congestion of the urban centers and

creation of slums.
