Dear Parents/Carers,

Contact Details
We sometimes find it difficult to contact parents during the school day. Children do need to be collected quite
quickly at times if they are unwell. It is important that we have up to date contact information for at least two
people (more is better). If you are unsure whether we have the correct contact details for you could you please
notify school as soon as possible so that we can update our records. Ideally we need to know numbers for home,
work and mobiles if possible.

Dinners
A huge thank you to all who keep dinner money payments up to date. This helps us a great deal. Please remember
that we are unable to allow debts to build up as we do not have sufficient funds to be able to cover them ourselves.
Once debts reach to two weeks of arrears we are no longer able to provide a school meal for children.

Arrival Times
Many children are arriving on the premises before school starts. In some cases it seems that older siblings are
dropping them off too early and so we realise that parents may not be aware of the issue. Children should not be
on the school site prior to 8:10 a.m. each day when breakfast club opens. Before this time there is no supervision
and in the event of an accident or emergency any child on the premises would be at risk. Children who are not
coming to school for breakfast club should arrive between 8:45 and 8:55 a.m. when the yard is supervised by
members of staff.

Attendance
Our attendance level dropped in 2016/17 to 94.5%. As with all schools we are under great pressure to improve
our overall attendance levels. We have set a target of 94.8% for 2017/18. We ask for your continued support in
doing all that you can to ensure that children are in school regularly and punctually. Please make sure that you
contact school when they do not attend so that we can correctly log the reasons for their absence.

National Tests
At a recent governors’ meeting we decided it may be useful for parents to have some feedback on the academic
performance of our pupils in the national tests and at the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) when they are formally
assessed. A summary is presented on the reverse of this letter for your information. Our school performance is
shown compared with the average of schools across Conwy and of schools throughout the country. We hope this
is of some interest for you. As you will see our school has performed very well in comparison with most
percentages much higher than the averages.

Yours sincerely,

Mr R Jones
Headteacher
