Text
These are nonsense syllables and pronounced pretty much how they look, but with a nasal “Finnish” accent.
The umlauted a’s (ä) are “extra nasal” and when there are two vowels in a row, go directly to the second if the
note is held. For instance, the first “word “häi” is sung ha-eee with a very nasal and forward vocal quality on
the sustained “eee.” The best way to get this accent is by listening to other choirs doing it. Here are two:

Layout and parts
Here is a guide as to which line your part will be found on from measure to measure, because some parts
switch lines.
Sopranos, Tenors, and Basses have both a two-part and a three-part divide. Here is the break down for these
parts: S1, T1, and B1 always sing their part as marked. S2, T2, and B2 will sing their part as marked when there
is a two-part divide, but may be assigned to either S2, T2, B2 or S3, T3, B3 for the three-part divide. There will
need to be some shifting of people to balance these divides, so please take note of which part you will be
singing during the first rehearsal when part assignments are worked out, either February 28th or March 7th.
This will not be done twice, so find out your part and mark it down!
Then, please take the time to highlight your part—you definitely need to do this to keep from getting lost!
