Dear Families,

Hi, my name is Emily Kirk and I will be working as a student teacher for the next fifteen weeks
in your child's classroom. I am working towards a certification teaching children pre-
kindergarten through fourth grade. This is the ninth and final semester of my training as a
teacher. I have also had experience teaching with children at the ages of two years to five years
and enjoyed working with toddlers, preschool, and elementary age children with and without
special needs. I am looking forward to this unique learning opportunity in your child's first grade
classroom.
I was born and raised in Patton. I have been at Saint Francis University for five years. I began
my studies as a duel Exercise Physiology/Physical Therapy major. I quickly saw that this was not
the career for me and switched to Early Childhood Education. Besides getting practical
experience with children through mentor opportunities via Saint Francis University, I have also
worked for seven summers at the Altoona Curve in the fun zone. Outside of working with
children, some of my interests include hockey and singing. My goal upon graduating is to obtain
a teaching position on a military base and provide inclusive instruction for all students.
I will be working with the students in your child's class in various capacities, both with small and
large groups in math, science, social studies, and language arts activities. I will gradually
increase my responsibilities with the students over the course of the semester. I am excited to
work with your child this semester. Please do not hesitate to stop in, call, or email me if you have
time as I would welcome the opportunity to get to know you along with your child. My
information is listed below.

Sincerely,

Emily Kirk
