-Collection of initial evidence to define and justify a Research Statement-
RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES IN LANGUAGE TEACHING
General Description
Unillanos is a Public institution from the city of Villavicencio, which has an extension that
belongs to the Eduacation and Arts faculty.
The English courses are open to all ages public, belonging or not to the University and relatives
from University workers –with especial fee due to “social action”; or anybody who is
interested. Fares are very convenient compared with other private institutions, and all the
processes are certified under international patterns, such CEF (A1 to C2).
Participants are mostly children, teenagers and young adults from 2-4 stratum from the city
of Villavicencio and surrounding areas; that makes the environment free of pressure and most
of the students take the courses due to personal academic purposes, since they also get
English certifications of the levels they study and approve.

a-Classroom Organization *1
The classroom is a well- aired and full of light classroom on a four-floor of a building belonged
to the University. Has the students desks and are generally organized; the front desk is located
in the left side of the classroom.
b-Level of English
The level of English of the class is A2 according to ECF, the name of the course is Teens
Waystage A.
c-Materials Resources *2
We have in the classroom desks, a board, a main or teacher´s desk, a 42” tv Set –audio visual
aid-, a laptop and a fan.
As the teacher, I intend to be a mediator; to be the one who help students to take the lead
during classes. My main concern is that students can interact and lead the class, though an
active participation; to set the rules of the class thru different activities and to evidence
activities development; as making comments and corrections – mostly possitive input- and
encourage students´ participation.
During this first Session and having already seen the topic, along with the use of the text book
and its different activities, They are aware about the differences between Past and Past
Progressive tenses. After that I let them practice not only grammars, but the correct
pronunciation of some verbs -i.e. irregular verbs in present-past /i:/, /Id/, /t/.
With that purpose I Have set Three different activities, some developed in the classroom, some
other they must develop online, buy the mediation of EDMODO, a blog application, similar
to Facebook, but for academic purposes.
1-Warm Up.
Students are divided into two groups -A & B- they must ask questions and the
other group answer the questions; each time a student answers questions, the
group receives a point. This activity allows them to practice and make corrections along it.

This task was set to practice at home. They should post the results in Edmodo and
the due date of this activity Was set to
March 21st.
3- Task setting *4
Another task that was set is “My last Vacations”; a set of pics of their
last vacations, and their explanation using sentences like “ This Was my mum
swimming in the sea” or “I danced a lot that night”, for example.
This activity first was initially planned to be developed in class, but since my work
intends to use the mediations of ICT tools, like EDMODO, saving up class time on
correcting socializations, -among others- I gave them an additional +,5 on their final
Term´s grade for uploading a video on You tube or directly to the blog. The Due
date for this is March 24th.

1, 2-No conflicts Were observed during these two stages of the class.

h- Significant experiences
2,3. Both activities Online Exercises and the Uploading of the socialization
encourage them to not only practicing english during the week, but, to have
a change of the regular classroom routin activities; they seemed interested in
participating in the activity.

In this second session of work I Focussed on reviewing those who did the task, who posted the
excercises and the videos; the advantages and constraints found by them.

March 21st. The main idea of these exercises was to let them practice for today´s
Witten Term´s.
2- Task Review *2
Those who didn´t upload the video must socialize in class, some questions were
asked to them, from the teacher, and from the students, in simple past tense and
past progressive.
2- During the task review- Students ask their own made questions, during the
socialization of a student; they must ask among them questions in simple pasta nd
progressive, this part pf the class is entirely in English, except wen they are writing
the questions and they have some doubt about any vocabulary, they are told so
to ask with the “How do you say” sentence.
