SEE LIST FOR THE 11 NEW OCCUPATIONS _______ Canada Permanent Residency in 6 to 12 months
In 2008, the Canadian government made sweeping changes in its immigration policy and introduced legislations aimed at reducing the backlog and getting key immigrants in the country much faster. The Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) program allows selection decision within 6 to 12 months of receipt of applications; a far-cry from the old system of 5 to 6 years. At the onset of the new FSWC, 38 occupations were introduced. Because the labor market continues to evolve, the Canadian government and its provincial ministers are periodically evaluating these occupations. With this mandate, occupation/s may be added or deleted depending on the labor market demand. And so, on June 26, 2010, the list of qualifying occupation has been revised and reduced down to 29 with 11 new occupations added. Annual quota has also been imposed against this program. To qualify for admission to Canada as a skilled worker, without an approved offer of employment, applicants must meet the following conditions: Possess at least one year of applicable experience in one of 29 high-demand occupations The work experience must be classified within Skill Type 0 (Managerial Occupations), Skill Level A (Professional Occupations), or Skill Level B (Technical Occupations and Skilled Trades) Score sufficient points under the skilled worker point grid comprising of six selection factors Possess suitable settlement funding Undergo a successful security background and medical examination.
If your work is one of the new qualifying occupations, it would be in your best interest to submit your application without delay to avoid new government policy.
