Diagnosis of anemia
With inspection methods Hb way Sahli

Anemia (in Greek: anaimia, meaning lack of blood, haima, "blood") is a state when the number
of red blood cells or the amount of hemoglobin (the oxygen-carrying protein) in red blood cells is
below normal. Red blood cells contain hemoglobin which enables them to carry oxygen from the
heart obtained from the lungs, and then delivered to all parts of the body.
Anemia is a blood disease that is often found. Some of anemia has essentially disease. Anemia can
be classified by shape or morphology of red blood cells, the underlying etiology and clinical
presentation. The most frequent cause of anemia is excessive bleeding, destruction of red blood
cells in berlebihanhemolisis or shortage of red blood cells (hematopoiesis ineffective).
A patient is said to be anemic when the concentration of hemoglobin (Hb) of less than 13.5 g / dL or
hematocrit (HCT) is less than 41% in men, and the concentrations of Hb less than 11.5 g / dL or Hct
less than 36% in women.

A. Aim
1. to determine hemoglobin concentration in the blood probandus
B. Principle
hemoglobin is converted into the acid hematin, then color occurs visually compared
with standard permanent color to the appliance.
C. tools and materials
1. tools
a) hemometer Sahli
b) pipette Sahli
c) permanent color standards
d) stir bar
e) pasteur pipette
2. Materials
a) Hcl 0,1 n
b) Aquadest
D. Procedure
a) insert 5 drops of 0.1 N HCL hemometer dilution into this tube.
b) suck blood with hemoglobin pipette up to the line mark of 0.02 ml.
c) remove the blood attached to the outer end of the pipette.
d) record time and drain blood from the pipette into the bottom of the tube dilution
containing HCl, lest there is a bubble.
e) mix everything so that blood and acid compounding, mixing color to brown.
f) add distilled water drop by drop each time stirring with a stirring bar.
g) read hemoglobin levels with gram./100 ml of blood (g%).
E. Result
The results of the examination of hemoglobin in the blood probandus of 8.8% and
below the normal value.
F. Conclusion
the results of the examination of hemoglobin in the blood can be concluded that probandus
1). hb levels in patients by 8.8% and below the normal value
2). otherwise anemic patients
