Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of the School Organizational Team (SOT)

The meeting was called to order by SOT team member Todd Nash at 6:52 PM. It was seconded by Ana
Approval of the Agenda

The agenda for the meeting was distributed and unanimously approved.

Review of Previous Meetings

The SOT Committee reviewed and unanimously approved the notes from the last meeting. Jill Stackel
motioned for the minutes to be approved; Kristy Jensen-Coleman seconded the motion.

Issues That Were Discussed This Meeting

● The Plan of Operation:

○ Both the budget and the School Improvement Plan were approved
○ The School Improvement Plan was approved on 2/23/2018
○ The budget was approved on 2/27/2018

● Open Positions here at David M. Cox Elementary:

○ At this time, we have a kindergarten, a fourth, and a fifth grade position open
○ Our first and second grade positions are filled
○ Our Intermediate SEC teaching position is still open as well
● Parent Surveys:
○ This last school year, we offered homework passes as incentives and it worked very well
○ We plan on utilizing this strategy again this year

● Henderson Funding Grant:

○ Schools that wanted to apply for this grant needed to do so by the 12th, but Ms. Imboden
has already applied for the funding
■ Plan A - put in for everything; $70,000 would help to purchase textbooks for
Grades 1-5
■ Plan B - put in for $52,000 that would be utilized for textbooks and to help pay for
the extra hour of our Instructional Aides

● Book Fair:
○ The Book Fair profited $1,900.00
○ Ms. Connor reviewed the profit vs. the cost
■ The profit shows how much we earned after taxes, the pre-ordered book for this
year and next, and the teachers book incentives

● Smart Board licenses revisited:

○ All boards take a key and the key is still available to us
○ This will help our budget out tremendously along with the Henderson grant

● Spring Carnival:
○ The Spring Carnival is scheduled for May 18th
○ It will be a combination of a Color Run and Grade Level Booths

● SOT Invitation for the following school year (2018-2019)

○ We have all served for two years, therefore it is time for new members to take over
○ Knowing that union, support staff, and parent election/voting process will take time, it is
vital that we do some pre-approval of initiatives to start the ball rolling for the next school

Agenda and Time of Next Meeting

The next meeting date will be April 10, 2018 at 5:00 P.M.
