The Ozark-Dale County Public Library welcomes
all, whether you are an adult, teenager, or kid; the Library is
always in need of good volunteers to help out!
Dothan Therapy Dogs
Join us every other month for fun with Dothan Therapy Dogs in the Children’s Section
of the Library during the story time programs at 10:30 and 4:30. They will be back on
Thursday, January 19, 2017.
“Therapy Dogs International is a volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing
and registration of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers for the purpose of visiting
nursing homes, hospitals, other institutions and wherever else therapy dogs are needed.”

Notes from the Treehouse,
“We haven’t seen you since last year.” Don’t you love that comment? People
always give me a funny look or they laugh. The Christmas party was a success with
everyone getting three books per Santa’s request. Everyone had been really good all
year. Story time continues with excellent programs. January 5th is the National Bird
Day Project with a cool project for the birds in your yard. We will learn about Braille
and how blind children read on January 12th. The Therapy Dogs will be back on the
19th, with the third Thursday every other month their new day to join us for story
time. This month is also National Soup Month, so on the 26th we will have a project
to warm your heart or maybe your parent’s heart. Pokémon continues every Saturday
from 1pm until 4pm. We have new leader boards posted and new giveaway cards. We
will do art like Kandinsky on Saturday, January 7th and on the 21st we will paint and
study Renoir. This new series Miss Ruth planned will be exciting and you will see how
easy it can be to paint like a master.
Ever heard of a Poet Laureate? The definition of a Poet Laureate is a poet
recognized or acclaimed as the most eminent or representative of a country or locality.
Well, we have one in Dale County, Alabama. She is Jo-Ellen Willis, retired English
teacher at G.W. Long School and author of Those Fascinating Memories. Mrs. Willis is
forever the very first Poet Laureate for Dale County Alabama and wrote a beautiful
poem about our library. She inspires people daily, and is thrilled to receive this honor.
Come by and read the poem. We have a copy of it in the Children’s room right next to
the picture of the President of the United States.
We have brought Popcorn and a Movie back! Join us on Saturday, January 21st
at 12:45 for delicious popcorn, ice cold drink, and a fabulous kid-friendly movie!
Learn always,
Miss Ruth
