Yarn: White, black - 100% cotton 8/4

2 mm and 5 mm knitting needles

Dress:
Start at the bottom of the dress.
Cast on 34 sts with white, 2 mm knitting needles, and work
stockinette stitch.

At 10 cm, increase 2 sts like this:

K 9, increase 1 st, K 16, increase 1 st, K 9 = 36 sts

At 15 cm, decrease 2 sts like this:

K 8, K 2 tog, K 16, K 2, tog, K 8 = 34 sts

At 18 cm, increase 2 sts like this:

K 9, increase 1 st, K 16, increase 1 st, K 9 = 36 sts

Cast off at 20 cm.

Top:
Cast on 52 sts with black and 2 mm knitting needles:
Row 1: K 6, cast off 13 sts, K 14, cast off 13 sts, K 6
Row 2: K 6, cast on 5 new sts, K 14, cast on 5 new sts, K 6
= 36 sts

Row 3: Knit stitch and decrease 10 sts evenly across row =

26 sts

Change to 5 mm knitting needles:

Row 4: Purl stitch

Continue with stockinette stitch until work measures 4 cm.

Cast off loosely.
