Summary:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a disorder that impairs social interaction and
communication. These skills are acquired mainly through literature, during the early childhood
stages. Peer-mediation has been sought as an alternative for those with ASD. This act has each
child in the study be a listener and also a speaker. Each of these children used in the exercise
are diagnosed with ASD. One child first acts as the speaker/requester and the other child being
the listener. The “speaker” then makes a request and the listener must act upon that request.
This study showed positive results all 3 children involved.
