Viking Offers New UL Listed, FM Approved

K17 ESFR Storage Sprinkler

Hastings, Michigan, USA – Viking, a leading manufacturer of fixed fire protection products,
introduces a new ESFR pendent sprinkler with a K factor of 16.8 (242). The new VK503 sprinkler
uses a fast response fusible element and provides protection for most common storage materials
without the use of in-rack sprinklers.

The VK503 is cULus listed and FM approved for buildings up to 40 ft (12,2 m) high and storage
heights up to 35 ft (10,7 m) with no in-rack sprinklers. The sprinkler is also approved for up to 45
ft (13,7 m) high buildings and up to 40 ft (12,2 m) storage heights with one row of in-rack
sprinklers installed.

The new K17 ESFR has a ¾ in NPT (20 mm) thread size and is available in both 165°F (74°C)
and 205°F (96°C) temperature ratings. Additionally, the sprinkler is dimensionally shorter than
similar competitive products, which can help alleviate concerns about exceeding the maximum
installed distance of the sprinkler to the ceiling.
