ABSTRACT
(Pamela Jenkins)
This proposal presents a cutting-
edge plan to address our current
power outage dilemma. Due to
the overpopulation of humans it is
becoming more difficult to supply
enough electricity to keep our city
running properly. Our Monsters
simply cannot keep up with the
proliferating breeding of the
humans, so therefore they are not
able to capture enough screams to
keep Monstropolous the thriving
city we love. We need to create a
new version of scaring to use in
conjunction with our old way; we
call this AMIP-Artificial Monster
Integration Program.
Our Plan in Implementing this
AMIP PROGRAM PROPOSAL program will keep our city
running with electricity, without
the power outages we have
Leslie M., Pamela J., Jasmine J., and Shereka M. experienced in recent years, for
many generations to come.
PROPOSAL AND
MARKETING PLAN
Summary: Artificial Monster Integration Program
☐ (Jasmine Jenkins)

For the last century Monster’s Inc. has prided itself on providing Monsteropolis with
affordable, efficient and environmentally friendly energy. As a company we have been
able to maintain energy levels with the hard working Scarers that put their lives on the
line each day. With any flourishing company comes adversity and for the first time
Monster’s Inc. is facing theirs. Over the last five years we have noticed an increase in
the human child population, which has been a positive for production and energy levels
in our world. Unfortunately, the increase of the human child population has slowly
began to affect our bottom line. Scarers are being used to their full capacities and we
have found through employee surveys that the ability to maintain our current level of
productivity is wavering. Some of our top level Scarers have reported concerns of being
overworked, experiencing diminished effectivity of scare tactics and a decline in
available and qualified scarers to ease the workload. Maintaining employee satisfaction
and providing energy to our world are top priorities and to continue to do both
successfully we would like to implement the AMIP Program.

AMIP stands for Artificial Monster Integration Program. The main goal of this new
program is to introduce an artificial monster into our everyday scaring practices to
maximize energy output. The artificial monster will mitigate employee workload issues,
it will have enhanced scare features to combat children who have become desensitized
from the overtly violent human world, and it will provide protection for monsters that
have been exposed to contamination from the human world. Incident 4355620 that
occurred in 2005 has opened our eyes to new and real concerns of the human world
and how easily contamination can occur, with one child.

AMIP will start off as a six-month experimental program, where the prototype will be
created. After the initial phase we will implement another 6-7 months testing the
prototype, fixing issues, introducing the AM to the natural monsters and allowing them
to interact with one another. Over this initial year our hopes are that we will produce
a functioning AM that can bring economic growth and overall employee satisfaction
to Monsters Inc.

DISCUSSION
Background
(Leslie Mishoe)
Monsters Inc. is the energy company responsible for Monsteropolis and its
outlying areas. In the last 5 years we have experienced a steady decline in energy
harvesting from human children. The top three reasons for this decline in energy
production are:
1. Recruitment
2. The desensitization of human children
3. Decrease in Scares per hour
Recruitment has declined by 40% over recent years (Roz, 2018). Monsters are no
longer willing to expose themselves to the toxicity of the human world. Our
Scarers expose themselves to the human children continually while working.
Every door that opens into a child’s bedroom is a risk for exposure (Flint). For
this reason, recruiters are unable to fill the positions needed. Research has also
shown we are losing potential Scarers to technological fields. At Monster’s
University Scaring programs enrollment is declining. Young Monsters are
choosing technological fields over traditional Scaring. (Roz, 2018).
Human children are exposed to violence and corruption on a daily basis leading to
a desensitized population. In the human world, little children are tied to screens
and this has given them more exposure to violent or inappropriate content. This
has increased the demands of our Scarers to a level that cannot be achieved by
traditional means. The scare demands have become so intense that one Scarer is
not enough. “Children just look at us and roll right over” (Sullivan). Children
need more enhanced scares in order to produce the screams necessary to keep up
with our energy needs.
There has been a decline in Scare times as well. The time of a traditional scare is
20 minutes. A Scarer must prepare for the scare of child by getting into character
and work twice as hard. An Artificial Monster does not need to prepare, AMs are
simply projected into the child’s room when the floor operator opens the doorway.
This will lead to an efficient scare but also increase the number of Scares per hour.
An AM is expected to produce 6 scares per hour versus 4 (Wazowski).

Project Purpose
Artificial Monster Integration Program – AMIP
(Leslie Mishoe)

Page 2
To enhance the scare experience for human children and fill the Scarer gap.
Artificial Monster Integration Program or AMIP will give our Scarers the tools
they need to create an atmosphere of the ultimate scare. Scarers will no longer
have to do all the work on their own. They will have special effects that will
create a scary atmosphere that was not possible on their own. Special effects will
include smoke, lasers, and the addition of other objects or monsters to create
petrifying experience. This will allow the harvest of screams with the highest
potential of energy. If children are terrified, their screams will produce more
energy. This is the most unobtrusive way to get optimal screams.
AMIP can also fill our recruitment deficient. A hologram is as effective as real
Scarer without the threat of contamination or the mistakes of an inexperienced
Scarer. By adding AM, we could increase harvesting to accommodate the high
demands of scream cultivation. Artificial Monsters can be simulated and
projected through the doorway of a human child.

APPROACH
☐ (Pamela Jenkins) Our plan to this obstacle of less energy, scarers and desensitized
human children is in our four-fold approach. We believe putting this unique idea
into motion will put Monstropolis back in the black on energy production and help
future generations of Monsters with their energy needs.

☐ Phase 1-Build an Artificial Monster hologram, AM

Our first year will be spent on building the First Artificial Monster prototype. We
have a team of the finest Scientists and Software Engineers on hand to complete
this uncharted endeavor. After it is built we will allow them to interact with our
real monsters, which will allow the Software engineers to fix any issues that make
Page 3
them seem unreal to the untrained eye. This phase will also include
training/downloading software on our scare tactics, per policy, to the AM.

☐ Phase 2-Test on human children

In our second year, our plan is to implement the AM into the human world. We
will first have the AM work with a real monster, so the engineers are able to fine
tune any issues that were not addressed in Phase 1, this will take approximately 6
months. We will then allow the AM to scare on its own and capture screams. It
will scare 6 children per night at first, moving to 10 per night. This last part will
continue for 6 months as well and then move on to phase 3.

☐ Phase 3-Analyse the Data

This phase will analyze the data collected from Phase 2. We hypothesize that with
the AM in place our technicians will be able to scare 6 human children per hour,
minimum, on its 12-hour shift, bringing its total to 72+ per shift. After the data
analysis is completed and any adjustments have been made to the AMIP we will
begin Phase 4!

☐ Phase 4-Put into place the mass implementation of the AM software

This last phase is expected to last 6 months and is the most anticipated. Each
workstation will have AM software and be monitored by a technician on the scare
floor, who will then project the AM into each door as it comes into view via
conveyor belt.

INSTITUTIONAL RESOURCES
☐ (Jasmine Jenkins)

The Division of Science and Scare at Monsters University has been the Gold
standard for research and experimentation in Monsteropolis. Jane Freight-Meister
MMP and her team of scientists have been a consistent advocate and partner of
Monsters Inc. They have provided research in subjects concerning the Anatomy
and Physiology of the human child. They have made breakthroughs in discovering
the ascending pathways of fear to adolescent brains. They have provided
numerous serums that have saved monsters who have fallen ill to due
contamination of human children. With this already established partnership we
have decided to join in our research efforts to create this new AM. We are
requesting resources from the Monster’s University Alumni Association through
their Unified Innovation Grant Program; which gives funding for new ideas that
benefit the monster environment as a whole. We will also be requesting funds
from Monsteropolis Main Financing Committee to assist in producing the AM
prototype and the materials needed to sustain the year of experimentation. All
other funding will be filtered through Monsters Inc. Fiscal Budgeting Office,
allocating money to manpower, overtime, promotion and marketing. The
implementation of the Artificial Monster will be collaborative and beneficial to the
entire monster society.
