# INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD

Directions: Using the template below, describe how you would use the interactive whiteboard in your
future classroom. Consider if your ideas is teacher centered or student centered. The learning activities
should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will view/use/benefit from students’
work.

Standard(s) Addressed: MGSE9–12.G.CO.1 Know precise definitions of angle, circle,
perpendicular line, parallel line, and line segment, based on the undefined notions of point,
line, distance along a line, and distance around a circular arc.

Description of how to implement in the class: I will have students get into to two groups as teams.
Each team will be represented on the car game using the smart board. There will be a definition and
each team will race to the correct word. The students who are not actively at the board will be sitting
at their desk cheering on their team mates as well as writing the correct definition to the word. Each
student will be required to return the definitions in at the end of class to get a completion grade. The
team who wins the whole game will receive 1 bonus point on their next quiz. The team with the most
turned in definitions that are correct will also receive 1 bonus point on the next quiz. This will allow
for all student to participate in the game and there will be a reward at the end of the class for
everyone participation.

Level of Technology Implementation (SARM): By incorporating the SMARTboard in a classroom
setting we are reaching several levels on the SAMR model. Augmentation, Modification, and
Substitution are used as substitution of a typical whiteboard. You interactive between a computer
and a typical whiteboard. Since you only have one SMARTboard per class individual task would be
difficult therefore the redefinition level is not met.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My personal learning goal for my students is for
them to be actively learning. I want them out of their chairs and moving around. I feel like this might take a
little longer than putting up definitions and writing them down, but if getting up and moving will allow the
child to remember something better than ill spend the extra time. I personally know by interaction I
remember things more therefore I believe it will help my students as well.
Importance of technology: An interactive whiteboard has very important use in a classroom. A teacher
can take notes save then and send them directly to students. Students can get out of their seats and interact
with their classmates. You do not have to waste time erasing a board you can just go onto a new slide, and
if you need to go back you always can. An interactive white board opens the door for endless note taking
for a classroom, where as a whiteboard left it very limited.
Reflection: I have learned how you can take a boarding lesson and bring it alive through the use of an
interactive whiteboard. I’ve learning how to save notes in order to send to students for extra let. I have also
learned how we have taken a very limited classroom setting and opened it up for an endless opportunity for
our students.
