Article is about how President Obama and his administration dealt with the problem of

immigrants and DACA, giving all the power to homeland security. The article states how

Homeland Security would only deport immigrants who did not have someone with a green card

in their family and helping the US economy in meaningful ways. I also think that the Obama

administration did the right thing in trusting Homeland Security with the problem of immigration

reform. Shows how the Obama Administration differs from the Trump Administration in the

problem of immigration reform and how immigration reform can become better and do more for

helping new citizens. Used to show how the Immigration Reform used to be and how it was better

at one point.

There are vast differences when it comes to Canada and the United States, but a major

one seems to be the way they treat immigrants. Canada is very giving and takes in many

immigrants compared to the US. They also seem to be helping their immigrants

financially and also because Canadian Citizens discriminate less than American Citizens.

While in the US it seems to be quite opposite as the US doesn't help immigrants as many

of them can't even get normal jobs without the fear of getting deported. Shows

differences between the immigration reform in Canada compared to United States.

Michael Steele states how the dream immigration reform would work and how there are

many difficulties in getting there. He touches on the topic of how being of Hispanic or

Latino descent makes life difficult. The topic of how much the United States puts into

stopping immigrants while immigrants also spend a lot of money supporting the country

with taxes. Used to show life on the point of the difficulties for immigrants from another

perspective.

DACA was a temporary solution for immigrants who came here as children. Many

(Republicans) believe that Obama's efforts were illegal and unconstitutional. Some have

even threatened to sue the current president if he didn't end the program by a certain

deadline. With ending this program it will ruin many lives and families by being deported

and ripped away from their chances of having the American dream.

New information that I discovered was when a senator threatened to sue the president

because of his dislike of the DACA program. This source will help my team and I create

our website for our history day project. The source also gave me more information about

what went into the making of the program and how much effort it will take to end the

program.

The main idea of the source is that young people that were brought here illegally by their

parents are being supported by a program Obama established in 2011. It helps them with

future jobs and colleges. The article has the pros and cons to it some people who are

immigrated and from those who oppose it.The source helped me think of more questions

I have for my topic and helped me understand more about what immigration reform is

about.

"Seventy-seven percent wanted to establish stricter policies to prevent people on

overstaying visas to be very important" this is apart of President Trump's wall building

along the Mexican border. Some other percentages like 73% wanted those who came here

illegally as a child should remain here.Others like 58% wants an "increase in deportations

of immigrants currently in the US illegally" but there are some who say immigrants that

are skilled should work in the US. Immigrants here usually do labor work but some have

limited seasonal visas so therefore challenges in labor grow. With most of the employers

being immigrants, and them getting deported it’s going to be hard to find others to do

labor work.

Obama had tried to make immigration reform better by passing many law that would in

turn grow the economy at the same time. He also stated how this is the lowest illegal

immigration has been since 1970. Many Americans also seem to support the reform of

Immigration, touching upon the topic that Immigrants are part of American society, legal

or illegal. This is used to show Obama’s ideas and how he tried to execute immigration

reform.
