RIGHT TO LIFE OF MECOSTA COUNTY HOSTS FUNDRAISER DINNER

BIG RAPIDS — Right to Life of Mecosta County is hosting its annual Focus on Life fundraising dinner from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, at the Trinity Fellowship Evangelical Free Church in Big Rapids. The dinner will feature guest speak Ed Rivet, who has been the legislative director for Right to Life of Michigan for more than 20 years. Rivet has published many articles and appeared on CNN and “Good Morning America” on numerous occasions. Under his direction, Rivet has helped Michigan earn a No. 1 ranking for comprehensive pro-life state laws. All proceeds from the event will go to the Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund. The cost is $25 per person. For more information or to make reservations, contact Peg Brennan at (231) 796-7782 or Kathie Richards at (231) 796-3931.

to remember. People around the world already associate “co” with “company,” so it’s easier for them to make the leap from .com to .CO. Also, it’s already used in 20 country-specific domains like England (.co.uk), Canada, (.co.ca), Japan (.co.jp), and others. * It’s Available -; Since there are so many .CO names to choose from, people all over the world are jumping on the .CO bandwagon. You can search for available .CO domains through registrars such as GoDaddy.com, Register.com, Network Solutions and others. * It’s Safer -; .CO takes a tough stand on all forms of domain name abuse. They’ve taken steps to protect the rights of brands and trademark holders and have made it harder for cyber-squatters and fraudsters to hide from authorities. Thousands of major corporations, such as Apple, Coca-Cola, Disney, McDonalds and Sony, have already secured their .CO domain names. Many companies like Overstock. com (o.co) are using .CO to create new content, reach new audiences or offer new services. It may take a while for .CO to catch up to .com, but at least you can get in on the ground floor and secure the .CO domain that best fits your online business, blog or personal Web site. For more information, visit www.cointernet.co.

CAN’T GET THE WEB ADDRESS YOU REALLY WANT?
(NewsUSA) - Got a great idea for a Web site, but can’t find a decent .com Web address that suits you? Over the past 25 years, more than 95 million .com addresses have been registered by corporations, organizations and individuals. As a result, the pool of meaningful .com names is nearly exhausted. Fortunately there are a few solutions: If the Web address you want is owned by someone else, you can offer to buy it -- but sometimes sales can range from several hundred to several hundred thousand dollars. Using an alternate domain extension, such as .net, .org, .info and .biz, might help you find the name that you want, but Internet users can easily overlook these target niche audiences.

by the USFWS have been met since 1999, and the current wolf population in Michigan and Wisconsin exceeds the recovery goal by more than 10 times. “Wolves are fully recovered in the Great Lakes region and we urge the USFWS to move forward in a deliberate process to delist wolves,” said DNRE Director Rebecca Humphries. The wolf remains federally endangered, but this finding is an important step in toward delisting, Humphries said. The next step after this 90-day finding will be a full status review by USFWS. The full status review will determine whether delisting is warranted or not. Over the next 60 days, the DNRE will provide scientific data regarding Michigan’s wolf population to the USFWS to help support delisting. A similar series of events occurred after Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota petitioned the USFWS to delist in 2006. A full status review determined that delisting was warranted, and the wolf was removed from the list in 2007. Federal courts overturned the delisting and the wolf was placed back on the list in 2008. For more information on wolves in Michigan, go to www.michigan.gov/ wolves .

to access files, calendars and applications from any computer, smartphone, netbook or iPad with an Internet connection. * Enlist a friend or family member who knows their way around online travel sites, and keep them on your mobile phone speed dial. If you have to make alternative plans, they can probably do it faster than anyone. * Remember travel insurance. A few extra dollars tacked onto the price of your trip can provide peace of mind if you have to change plans for unforeseen reasons. Check what your airline, travel agent, booking site and credit cards offer to make sure that you’re covered. * Have fun. Many airports are adding luxuries like spas, high-end restaurants and even showers to keep passengers happy. Find out what your airport, and the ones that you will visit, offer before you go, so you’re able to enjoy them to the fullest. While there is no surefire guarantee for disruption-free air travel, a little advanced planning can go a long way -- even all the way to your destination.

TIPS FOR STRESS-FREE AIR TRAVEL
(NewsUSA) - Man-made and natural disruptions to air travel are all-too-often the norm. Not only can weather delay take-offs and landings, but new airline rules can also keep planes grounded. For example, if a plane is sitting on the tarmac for more than three hours, it has to return to the gate. On the upside, there are ways to cope with the unexpected. Here are a few simple tips to prepare for delays before leaving home: * Print copies of itineraries with the 800 numbers for your airline, and others that fly the same route, just in case you have to rebook from the airport. The paper-free option? E-mail those numbers or enter them manually into your smartphone. * Check airline Web sites for delay postings. New rules mandate that airlines have this information online. Alternatively, you can go to www. flightstats.com. * Make sure you can access your office and home computers in the event you are stuck while traveling. Free and inexpensive programs like LogMeIn (www.LogMeIn.com) make it quick, easy and secure

ENDANGERED WOLVES TAKE STEP TO DELISTING
MICHIGAN — The grey wolf wolf recovery has reached a point where wildlife officials are considering delisting the species from the endangered species list. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced on Wednesday the results of an initial review of petitions they received to remove grey wolves in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan from the federal endangered species list, saying the information in the petitions may warrant delisting the species. This finding was in response to petitions submitted in spring 2010 by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Safari Club International. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment supported these petitions. DNRE Wildlife Division officials are pleased that the USFWS has moved one step closer to removing wolves in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan from the list. The recovery goals established

FALL AND WINTER MAINTENANCE PRESERVES LOOKS OF COMPOSITE DECKS
(NewsUSA) - Many people choose to build decks with composite materials because of the lowmaintenance characteristics of the product. Although composite products are, in fact, less work then traditional wood decks, some care is required to keep the product looking great over time. As the cooler weather approaches, there are a few things you can do to protect the look of your composite deck: Basic Cleaning Recommendations Composite materials reduce the reoccurring work of painting, staining or sealing, but for the best results, a regular cleaning with an eco-friendly cleaner is required. TimberTech, a leading manufacturer of composite decking products, recommends using Corte Clean and spraying the deck with a pressure washer before winter weather approaches. To clean with a power washer, use a fan tip nozzle and spray in the direction of the brush/grain pattern. Be sure to use proper safety precautions, including the

Perhaps the best way for you to get the Web address you want is with the new .CO domain extension, which launched in July and generated nearly half a million registrations in the first few weeks alone!

Here are just a few reasons why the .CO domain extension has been such an immediate success:

recommended maximum pressure of 1500 psi. Ice and Snow Removal For homeowners who live in harsh winter environments, it’s important to remove ice and snow from your deck in order to eliminate damage. For ice removal, it is best to use either rock salt or calcium chloride on the composite surface. However, either of these products may leave a white residue, which can be removed by either rinsing with water or a mild soap- andwater solution. Prevention Is Key Composite products, like the ones manufactured by TimberTech, are formulated to inhibit mildew growth and minimize staining. It is important to rinse off any composite product periodically with a hose in order to prevent the build-up of pollen and debris. Just as you would rake and gather leaves from your yard to maintain the grass, it’s important to clean decking in the fall to remove build-up. Even if it appears clean, mildew stains may occur where moisture, pollen and dirt are present.

Maintaining a clean, dry surface is the best method to combat mildew. Ensure that water drains effectively from your deck, and be sure that gaps exist between planks to allow for adequate drainage. No matter what type of composite product you choose, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s directions carefully and maintain a periodic cleaning schedule to ensure that your deck is an enjoyable space for years to come. For more information about composite decking care, visit www. timbertech.com.

tires critical for vehicle safety, they also increase fuel efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Increase Fuel Efficiency According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 3.56 million gallons of gasoline are wasted every day due to incorrectly inflated tires. The good news is you can improve gas mileage just by keeping tires inflated to the proper pressure. In fact, one study showed that if gas costs $3 per gallon, proper tire pressure can save you up to $432 at the pump each year. Reduce Carbon Dioxide Emissions According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the typical car in the United States releases more than five tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year. By keeping tires properly inflated, you can reduce your vehicle’s “carbon footprint” by an average of 327 pounds per year. Because a tire can lose up to half its air pressure without appearing to be under-inflated, you cannot rely on a tire’s appearance to determine whether it’s properly inflated or not. Tire Pressure Tips From Schrader

To help ensure your tires are properly inflated year-round, here are some tips from Schrader, the inventor and leading manufacturer of TPMS worldwide:

* Check the pressure in all four tires -- and the spare tire -- monthly with an accurate tire gauge, and always check tire pressure before a long road trip. * The “right” pressure for your vehicle’s tires can be found in the vehicle’s manual or on the driver door edge, glove box or fuel door. Do not follow the information listed on the tire sidewall. * For the most accurate reading, tires should be checked when they are cool. * Always remember to replace the valve cap. For more tips, including what to do if the TPMS symbol illuminates on your dashboard, visit TPMSMadeSimple.com. Schrader created the site to help educate drivers about TPMS and the importance of proper tire pressure.

SAVE MONEY, HELP THE ENVIRONMENT WITH PROPERLY INFLATED TIRES
(NewsUSA) - Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) are now a standard safety feature on all new cars in the United States. TPMS automatically monitors tire pressure and alerts the driver when the pressure in one or more tires becomes significantly low -- and potentially dangerous. Still, conducting monthly tire pressure checks is one of the smartest driving moves you can make. Not only are properly inflated
